True, right? How many moments are there? In a sunset? A waterfall? A starburst? A love affair? In a dream.

Read a great book under a palm, drinking cappucino.
Drove an auto-rickshaw in a nearby village--looking to bring one home for a toy.
Held a baby elephant's trunk--chained to a post on a concrete slab with fat Russians gawking, taking photos.

I'm on assignment in Kerala, India. The company has a comfortable and tottally dull "guesthouse" at the technology park--but after 36 hours sentence on that post, following my 24 hour flight and immediate two days of work , I was fully numb, bordering on depressed. Unfortunately the job site is *NOWHERE*--on the side of the highway 15 km from the shitty capital city of Kerala. Staying at the beach town, Kovalam, is my only key to sanity. For all of his caprice and whimsy, the Yeti is nevertheless one of the most dependable people I've met in the community. He does what he says, says what he means, and always delivers. He is full of amusing stories, useful skills, and weird totems from across the world. What's more, I've never met anyone who loves his friends as much as this guy - it seems almost everything he does is designed to create a mood or environment or moment for the enjoyment of others. Doesn't hurt that he gets a kick out of watching us all have a good time. so maybe its really all selfishly motivated for his voyeuristic pleasure?? Maybe the voyeurism explains why he is so perceptive - very little escapes his notice and subsequent evaluation. He is wondering - what would complete y/our experience? Wood screws? Mimosas? A place to sit, perhaps?
A brilliant dancer, subtle philosopher, and he cleans up real nice too. What a marvelous beast! What a pleasure to keep his company!

Meeting Zeth on the playa this year made me very happy. He was one of the most friendly and genuine people I've encountered in quite awhile, and has a truly fantastic smile...
