The band is doing great, we're playing new tunes, new arrangements and having a total blast. I think it's one of the best band i've played in, certainly in a long time. after 47 years as a republican, my dad *registered* as a democrat. not just for this election, ~for good~. even volunteered time at Obama's local office too... 'cause he's like that (believes in participating at some level *and* gives a few bucks to the candidates he likes here and there).

i've had some good interviews, and some bad ones. i've been stressed out thinking, i'm probably not going to find folks like the crew i was working with, nothing that comfortable, or even interesting. sure, seems like there are some passable jobs out there, jobs i'm qualified for. but i'm wondering if i'll be able to land *anything*. just feeling off my game. i don't remember feeling this awkward looking for work. ok, it's been a while, and ... read more
SO. they just shut down the portland office (where i was working). the company was losing cash, about $300k/month.

with corporate based out of seattle, the new guy they brought in to fix it wanted to make the portland office a sales office, not an engineering office. this was the reason they gave for letting me go, though several engineers stayed on at the time. the crew wanted me back, i figured it would eventually work out. so didn't clear out my office out right away. the po... read more
