Thermal Contact

Thermal Contact is a fully choreographed duet stage show including the very best performances from Sno and Lex. Utilizing several forms of fire art as well as non-fire circus performances, Thermal Contact builds its energy from act to act. In addition to the world-class solo pieces each performer displays during the show there are also a number of acts done together. What can be described as "AcroFire" ends the show, as a beautifully arranged duet acrobalancing routine combined with fakir, fire breathing and fire eating.

Optional additions:

Live musicians - To add even more depth and elegance to our stage shows, we offer live musicians in place of a prerecorded CD. The benefits of live music are tremendous, as our musicians not only provide unique background music for the performances, but also contribute solo acts that rival even the most elaborate visual performances.

Strolling performances - Adding strolling performances to a stage show is a great way to make the audience feel like a part of the show. Interactive strolling allows the audience to see up close the skill required to bring this stage show to life. It's also a great time for their questions, or to try out some of the props for themselves. Pre or Post-show workshops are also available upon client request.

Performance Descriptions

Bacchanal provides many unique circus performances, as well as traditional favorites. Here are some descriptions of the more popular acts that we offer, although we are also able to provide several options not listed here. Please contact us with your ideas and we'll make sure your expectations are exceeded!

Fire Acts:

AcroFire - A Thermal Contact exclusive, two performers display a mastery of fire eating, fakir (also known as "body burning") and fire breathing while performing complicated acrobatic balancing.

Fakir / Fire Eating - A seductive routine involving fire eating, body burning (aka fakir), and various transfers. Fire eating is not only considered one of the most awe-inspiring fire performances, it is also compact enough to safely perform in almost any indoor or outdoor setting. Available as a solo performance or a duet stage show, this versatile performance is well suited for almost any event.

Fire Breathing - Also known as "dragon's breath", pillars and balls of flame are exhaled from the mouth . For safety reasons, only available outdoors or with a very large designated area.

Poi - A rhythmic dance where two balls of fire attached to chains are spun around the performer in complex patterns that amaze and capture audiences. Also available without fire, using glowing balls instead.

Fans: A fiery twist to a traditional tribal fan dance, the performer spins fans complete with large torches around her body.

Staff - A long staff with flames on each end is spun and tossed in a fast-paced dance. Fast spinning of the staff creates a vortex of fire, a fiery circle manipulated by the performer for an energy-filled routine.

Rope Dart - A very large flame (approximately the size of a bowling ball) at the end of a rope, gracefully entangled within the performers limbs. A slow graceful dance in which the audience can easily see what the performer is doing (although 'how' is still a mystery.)

Non-Fire Acts:

Tribal Sword Dance - An elegant balancing act with dark tribal belly dancing, this stage dance never fails to dazzle audiences. The dance is performed using a large scimitar, balanced perfectly on the head of the dancer, all while spinning and dancing flawlessly to choreographed music. A perfect medley of grace, style, beauty and skill.

Contact Juggling - Transparent acrylic spheres (between one and four, each approximately 3" in diameter) are rolled and manipulated through the arms and hands, appearing to float and move on their own while the performer dances around them. Multiple balls are spun in patterns with hypnotic precision creating an atmosphere of illusion and mysticism. Kids and adults alike are encouraged to try and learn for themselves in this interactive strolling performance. It can be described as an elegant blend of juggling and magic, a family act that amazes adults as much as the kids!

Stilting: Great for festivals and larger parties, characters walk through crowds mingling with guests on tall stilts.

Snake Dance: Interactive belly dancing with a live snake, a great authentic addition to a middle eastern themed stage show. For safety reasons, this act is only available during warm weather.

Thai Fingers: Can be performed with or without a mask, this very spooky dance uses very long metal nails curved at the ends for a traditional yet entrancing effect.

Toss Juggling - Balls, clubs, and/or multiple person passing. Strolling juggling can also include short juggling lessons upon request.

Unicycling - normal or on a 5' tall "giraffe" unicycle - can be combined with other acts (juggling, etc.)

Bullwhip - A short target stage act, can include audience participation upon request.

Tarot Card Reading: Using ancient divination techniques, guests receive eerily accurate tellings of their futures. Authentic individual readings are typically given in a single designated area.

All performances are fully insured by American Fire Artists LLC.

Lex, a former belly-dance instructor at the YMCA, is currently teaching private workshops in Auburn Hills. Please call with any inquiries.
