Shouts of nothingness

Real Life

I had somehow forgotten how much I enjoy listening to "Classical" music, namely Romantic and Baroque period and a big ol' dash of the Impressionists.
For the month of December our local library ( that doesn't have a drop box so you have to watch your books and make sure the librarian checks them in) is having a free for all on CDs. Usually they're 50p. 10 at a time, yes. The first batches were electronica and now it's all classical. Bach and piano music, some Paganini too. It's surprising (not really) that the cases and CDs themselves are in much better condition than the poptronica stuff.
Even on my dinky laptop speakers (oh how I miss my aural space filling studio monitors) Johan Sebastian Bach's Mass in B Minor is quite nice. Quite nice indeed.
Art. Of. The. Motherfucking. Fugue. Put that in your ear and smoke it.
And I remember that the universe is music, geometry is all.

Other than that I'm a little grumpy. Not sure why. I feel a little like I've forgotten that I was looking for something I've lost, but I know I'm not missing anything. Well, I do miss weed... a bit. It could be homesickness too. Shrug. Half way through and it'll only get colder 'till February. Yes, I definitely miss California. I'll keep this in mind before I jump the pond for places abroad.

We've got to get Kitty on a tourist visa and I'm a bit nervous about that. Her staying here is up to a government official whom I don't know, and if they choose to not let her back in on a tourist visa there is no way to petition for anything. I still proclaim that "nationality is slavery".

10 points for the first person who can tell me what Hunter S. Thompson's last words were...

Grab a hold of that Debussy, St. Saens, etc. And maybe some Wagner and Chopin for the winter months.

And that video for Lisi's theory is perfect!

What were HST's last words?

I have to agree on Art of the Motherfucking Fugue. Especially if you can get it on harpsichord!

The cold is getting to me too. Although I have to say I don't miss California. The winter there never could decide whether it was a real season or just gray wet nothingness. And people there are sick all the time in winter.

I'm thinking about getting the old homemade analog synth out and laying down some tracks... It's been too long!

Tell Kitty to practice "God Save the Queen." It can't hurt, right?

I was super fortunate in college to work in the music school recording studio. At Eastman. Hidley design, Westlake monitors. Even so, live in the hall was so much more, well live! And all the music was free! Missing it for sure.

I hear that baroque music in its time had some improvisation.. Also check the Guarneri Quartet. Mind meld+instrument meld.
