don't you want your very own Mushoom toadstool? well it'sthat time! the elysium toadstool building event

This Saturday May 2nd we will be holding a mushroom build party at the old compound located at 722 30th place,SD,CA, 92102. Now the Bassmechanic Workshop.
Begining at 12 noon and going till we've had enough. There will be tunes, BBQ, Beers and Materials for building the shroom stools. If you have spools, staple guns and fabric great, bring em, but what we dont have is the stuffing/padding for the shrooms so please bring a cushion or padding.

These creative mushrooms are for around the main stage and common areas of Elysium, but you are encouraged to keep your shroom after Elysium. This is a very casual entertaining and supportive event to create community comradery and shoot the shit about our upcoming event.

A fun, creative afternoon with your buddies and new friends.

What: For the 3rd year in a row Vulcan residents are coming down from the Bay Area to share their skills with you. Come spend the day in beautiful Griffith Park and learn. Afterwards, join us for a fun evening of fire performance. Details TBA.

Where: The grass across from dog beach.
Take Voltaire to the beach, it curves to the left into the parking lot. After the curve on the left there is grass with a bench.

Class Descriptions

Contact Juggling- Greg
One of the most beautiful types of juggling... minimalism

in manipulation. Learn the basics of rolling and balancing

a ball with the world's first contact juggling teacher.

Beginning Double Staves:

Learn double staff from the ground up in this class designed for the beginner. After a thorough examination of the many myriad ways to manipulate a staff we begin combining techniques to seamlessly integrate a second staff.

Beginning Partner Poi:
Learn to spin with a friend. Partner poi is all about taking simple poi tricks and sharing

them with someone else. Learn 5 awesome moves in this class. Bring a partner or we'll provide you with one.

Beginning Contact Staff:
An introduction to contact staff manipulation with an emphasis on further learning. This class will take you through the basics of wrapping, rolling and spiraling with a staff. Hand, elbow, shoulder and neck wraps; halos and backside spirals

Intermediate Contact Staff:

We will explore taking fundamental contact moves and begin stringing them together into more complex move sequences including: conveyer belts, SNES, and Steves. We will also add a few more difficult individual moves to our contact vocabulary including: angel rolls and The Jesus.

Intermediate Poi Technique:

In this class we will explore several fields of moves that provide the foundation for many advanced poi techniques. We will cover isolation, stalls and 1.5's, inversions, flowers, antispin, and polyrhythm building up to an understanding of hybrid poi spinning.

Intermediate Double Staff Hybrids:

Bring both a set of poi and double staffs and learn twice as much! The concepts for spin and antispin hybrids are pretty much the same for both! You will learn many hybrids with only two different elements. This class will focus on full and half antispin isolation/hybrids and will give a new perspective to the hybrids you all ready know.

the Vulcan crew (www.vulcancrew.com/index.html) is coming down to teach workshops in LA the weekend of April 5th. They have offered to come down here on that Sunday and teach some workshops if there is enough interest. These guys are world class resource on pretty much every fire prop:
poi, staff, contact staff, contact juggling, club juggling, club swinging, double staff, staff juggling, poi tosses, whips... etc.
