Tribe friends

Last night I had the honor to be on Vancouver's Juice Box Radio (www.juiceboxradio.com). If you have never listened to the live show or podcasts, it's informative and always interesting; and the hosts Julia Saunders and Caroline MacGillivray are simply wonderful.

I had the opportunity to speak on my experience of the new American family, step-parenting, personal expression, and methods for creating healthy, interactive, and supportive lifestyles for the adults, the kids, --and the family as a whole.

I've been a rogue papa for 85 days as of today (May 8th, 2008), moving in with my new family on Valentine's Day. I waited til I was 42, and for me this was the right thing to do. If you are thinking of enlarging your family, or are simply curious about how others are doing it, I hope you find some of the ideas in the podcast useful. For me there is One Good Rule to start with, the same rule that exists for all positive human relationships: Just Show Up and Be Present. No better start.

Thanks to all the mamas, papas, infants, toddlers, kids, tweens, and teens for adding breath and spirit to this breathing, spirited world.
