Drummers, flags, parade banners, feathered ladies: As usual the 4th of July was one great gathering as the parade thru town past Smiley's Tavern was joined in by almost everyone along the sidelines. Fun times, lively spirits aplenty. . . (and Bolinas town won the tug of war contest with neighboring Stinson Beach)

For taking up revelry and lighting up the hordes there's nothing like the street parades in the Bay Area.
Next, the 4th of july in the LOST COLONY of BOLINAS has a celebration like none other. Check em out and come dance in the street with my wild feathered self, right down onto the beach with a cadre of samba congaline drummers in tow. It will be HOT, hot, hot....

**plus, if you're not getting enough of summertime play hit me with a query to join other revelers for a 5th of July Poolparty in San Rafael.

It was all goin' on June 12-14 up in Santa Rosa at the 31st annual fest for health & harmony; From Michael Franti's conscious tunes, to India Arie's empowering message, to a sunday morning gospel sound presentation from Rev. Michael Beckwith and a surprise appearance before the impressive chorus by one legend, Joan Baez. We're all high as a kite from the masterful array of speakers (Joanna Macy, Caroline Casey, Dreaming Bear, Daniel Pinchbeck & many many more) and the healthy organic food offerings provided, right down to the gutsy vibe produced at the Goddess Grove and Environmental Eco domes. Great job, the best weather ever & a cool crowd. Now, its on to the Ashville, Oregon venue for Mystic Garden Party for me in late July for the next road trip.

fairy tale wonders of Ta Prohm @ ANGKOR WAT, Cambodia

Ta Prohm in Angkor Wat, Cambodia, a day's trip from bustling Bangkok, but a timeless journey apart... shrouded in jungle it conjures up a sense of romance & adventure. Tree trunks twist among stone pillars. Fig, banyan and kapok trees spread their gigantic roots over, under and between the stones.

"Stones would have many wondrous tales to tell if they could but speak..."
Well, it took a maintenance crew of 80,000 people including over 600 dancers and 18 high priests. Instead of destroying the walls the massive roots add stability and support. And so "nature and man feed on one another, becoming friends, supporting protecting each other and simply growing old together".

"Nature, in the dual role of destroyer and consoler" The haunted charm of this place entwines itself about you as you go, as inescapably as the roots have wound tehmselves about the walls and towers... the gods of these old haunted places are jealous gods, and keep their choicest delights for the solitary who pays them the homage of undivided attention."...

"A place that might be the setting for all the fairytales ever written... a lovely, elusive enchanted palace, where for an hour or two you had recaptured all the lost romance of childhood" (Ponder, Cambodian Glory)

These are my favorite activists anywhere. I hosted two tables with poet, Drew Dellinger & my co-collaberator and facilitator, Heather Salmon & photographer Anna Kilinger & two dozen table guests Nov. 12th -along with 1500 other guests being activated. Spirited spoken remarks by the brilliant Paul Hawken (Blessed Unrest author and WiserEarth.Org founder) who remarked that he felt the work of this organization was the best he has seen. Next up - check out the monthly dinner meeting at the Pene Pachamama Restaurant in S.F. in December in North Beach, Powell & Union Streets. Why? To celebrate you, us, and the beautiful works being done all around the world by the alliance, the Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream initiative and making the change we want to bring about in the world come to pass now.
