Me Pirrrrate Name...

Bloody Sam Vane

Every pirate lives for something different. For some, it's the open sea. For others (the masochists), it's the food. For you, it's definitely the fighting. You tend to blend into the background occasionally, but that's okay, because it's much easier to sneak up on people and disembowel them that way. Arr!

Sam is/was my top choice for a name if I ever had a son. Not bloody likely now.

Feral catty-kit (blog entry)
We have had a cat hangin' around the place lately, sleeping in the front shrubbery many mornings. We thought it belonged to a neighbour who lets her cats roam. Turns out it's likely just a feral cat.

My Blog

We have had a cat hangin' around the place lately, sleeping in the front shrubbery many mornings. We thought it belonged to a neighbour who lets her cats roam. Turns out it's likely just a feral cat.
This morning it was next door in the side yard, hunched up in the grass. The hounds raised caine as expected, cat would not move other than to hiss at them, weakly.
So a feral cat is sick, beat up, quite possibly dieing over there, me and neighbor had no choice but to call Animal Control. Of ... read more

I do not get it, and I never have.
I have seen many upon many a tat, from prison-quality to artwork that must have cost thousands and was done by true masters. And yet, in the end, I never can understand why people get the things!
What I am today, I may likely not be in five years, little say 10 or 20. Why would I want to put something on my skin that may turn out to be really embarrassing x number of years down the road?
I suppose my main personal objection is in the way I see myself. I ... read more

I just thought I'd throw an update out here, keep my friends informed. I'm doing alright these days. I wouldn't say everything is back to normal, as I suspect 'normal' will not be quite the same as it used to be. That makes sense to me, sorry if it doesn't translate. :)

i bought my dad's Honda CRV from mom, it's practically brand new. She didn't need or want it, my old Saturn was turning into a rattling death-trap money pit, so this worked for all of us. My dad left a travel case of CDs in... read more

My dad's memorial service went off without a hitch!

I surely didn't count heads, but the place was packed. I saw all kinds of people that I knew but hadn't seen in years, and met a whole lot more that my dad knew from many aspects of his life.
Neighbors, colleagues from his teaching days, people he volunteered with (at Habitat for Humanity, Sharing Table, Food Pantry, Homeless Org. Just4Peace, Estuary Ctr. and others), friends from all stages of his life, and of course Family.

Again an... read more

The family have all been very busy preparing for my father's memorial service. It's tomorrow, Sunday, March 16, 2008. A lot of the original plans had to be scrapped once we figured out how many people want to attend. We first thought 75 - 100, but once word of his passing spread further we had to increase it to 175 - 200.
My dad was a teacher in his main career, then spent his retirement working for non-profits and/or volunteering. He touched a lot of lives, far more than I ever knew. Once a... read more
