Report from the Swamp - Summer and Showers

Tribe, Clan, and Family,

Thunderstorms! Warm and humid. Leafy and growing. Plants taking over
if we don't cut them back. Air too thick to breathe. 'Skeeters well
established and deer flies just starting.

Milkweed and butterfly weed! Vetch and clover. Lawns to mow; needed
too often. Susans galore, late but still the epitome of summer
flowers.

It has been a quiet lazy time, the last month since the last dark moon.
The mother has overwhelmed and comforted me with her over abundance
and her thick wet air and her storms; and her lightning bugs too. But
it is dark moon again, and I am alone for a week, and it is time to get
started. Time to make progress on those things that are to be done this
year. Yes, it will be hot for another moon or two but the days are
getting shorter now and it is time.

With the heat and humidity one can not help but sweat and have it
linger on you. But to shower in the house, as often as you are
inspired, leaves the house that much more difficult to sleep in. So, I
love my outside shower! The warm sun and the cool breezes are a joy.
The view is green and luscious. When it is cloudy and cooler, the
cocoon of warm water surrounds you, holds you as your mood is
transformed. Our water is heated by an air to water heat pump that
takes heat and humidity out of the house, so my outdoor revery not only
doesn't make the house more unpleasant but actually improves its
comfort. It is nice to live away from the neighbors.

May your summer have just the right balance of productiveness and
lassitude.
