Birth Name: Amelia Mary Earhart
Born: July 24, 1897
Birthplace: Atchison, Kansas
Died: July 2, 1937, en route from Lae, New Guinea to Howland Island
Married: February 7, 1931, to George Putnam
Despite having to attend six different high schools, she was able to graduate on time.
Earhart was called "Lady Lindy" because her slim build and facial features resembled that of Charles Lindbergh.
Earhart refused to don typical flying gear -she wore a suit or dress instead of the "high-bread aviation togs," a close-fitting hat instead of a helmet, didn't put on her goggles until she taxied to the end of the field and removed them immediately upon landing.
She developed a friendship with Eleanor Roosevelt, who wanted to learn how to fly. Earhart had planned to teach her, for which the First Lady even got her student permit.
Earhart met Orville Wright at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia in 1937, the same year she disappeared.
Earhart had such an impression on public that people often wrote and told her about naming babies, lakes and even homing pigeons "Amelia."
The United States government spent $4 million looking for Earhart, which made it the most costly and intensive air and sea search in history at that time.
She was the first woman to receive a pilot's license from the FAI.

about me
I like my life calm and quiet. I am a good friend who will tell you what you need to hear, not necessarily what you want to hear and will stick by you in tough times. My values, opinions are eclectic, formed from a rather tragic childhood and a lot of insightful soul searching and life learning since then. I believe in seeing people for who they are, what they think. I don't like facades.

where apparently they sat around and talked about what superhero they like best and what makes someone a "superhero" rather than a regular hero and what different types of heros are. Huh. I am so glad that he is finding fun and interesting things to participate in! I think I should have seen this coming 5 years ago when this picture was taken!

You know? It hadnt occured to me to write how I feel about this woman. It dawned on me today that I have been remiss.
She has changed my opinion of being a woman with a purse. I hated purses until Peggy. Now I will only carry hers and one of a kinds. She makes them for me and I happily aquire them. No one else on the planet has purses like I do. lol I so hate following the crowd. lol
She is beautiful, kind, caring, tolerant, patient, inner strength that surpasses all of the superheros strength, tons of love for animals and she has tons of room in her heart for us. She is simply awesome and I love her to bits and pieces. I loves her Trooper too....hell, I just think the world of her and her family. :) Heh!!! Takes alot to impress me,,,,,,,she has done it in very short order.
This is a woman to be reckoned with. :) A woman worth having in your life and in your heart.

Peggy is a former coworker, fellow garage sale-er and neighbor but most of all, a trusted friend. I love that she has an eclectic personality. None of the dishes in her house match. We went garage saleing and she picked up a plate here, a bowl there, if she already had one similar she would put it back. Her personality is also usually displayed in her GEORGEOUS quilts.
I can always count on her to have great advice. She has helped me in too many ways to count. I know that I can always count on her to lend an ear, shoulder or needle. She is one of the best friends that I could ever ask for. I believe that our move to Salina was fate, so I could be touched by Peggy's friendship.

The people I feel comfortable calling "friend" are few and far between. I feel like I've known Peggy a long time and we just happen to be in different locations right now. Someday we'll meet, sit down for a cup of tea and I know it will be like picking up in the middle of an ongoing, not quite finished conversation. And I'm really looking forward to it.

Peggy was my first friend on tribe. It is because of Peggy I wanted to get acquainted with others. She was so friendly and I didn't feel like I was talking to a stranger.
She is extremely talented! Has such diverse interests from quilting to some filming. Even loves Football. Such a vivid imagination. Love reading the pirate thing. She has made me smile many many times.
Peggy lives close enough that I someday hope to get to meet her and visit in person.
Peggy you have brightened my life. Thank you

Peggy is creative, artistic person with a generous heart. I always look forward to messages and posts from her. If I ever get to Kansas, I'm dropping in on her. Of course, maybe she IS my excuse to go to Kansas.....
