My Testimonials

December 11, 2004
Linda is the achetypal mother figure - she cares about everyone around her (to a fault), but she's not afraid to kick a little ass when it deserves kicking. She's taken good care of me when she had no reason to, and never asked for anything in return, as she has so many others. She's a truly fantastic person, without peer.

about me
East Coast freak who traveled west to learn how to relax and how to eat sushi. Succeeded happily at both. Loves large, wild parties and watching the ground breathe as the sun comes up. Equally loves tiny hidey-holes to retreat into solitude with a good book. Shares home with two cats, one rat, one husband, anywhere from two to four other roommates, and unfortunately no snakes, iguanas or puppies. Prone to flinging fire around her head in aesthetically pleasing patterns. Naturally difficult. Talks too much. Occasionally surfaces at raves and goth clubs, where she dances poorly but with abandon. Currently trying to turn a chipdish into a robot and building rooftop alligators. Generally bad at describing herself.

Asia SF
( local favorites » restaurants ) "Overly trendy but a lot of fun" Pros: Good asian-fusion food, wonderful entertainment. Take all your friends visiting San Francisco for an experience they'll always remember. One of the few places in San Francisco that knows the difference between a jumbo shrimp and a real prawn... read more

Rainbow Grocery Co-op
( local favorites » shops ) "Excellent grocery, politics occasionally get in the way of service" I can find stuff here that I can't find at Whole Foods or the Harvest Urban Market. Great bulk foods section. On an unhealthy note, it's also the only source I've found for maple sugar candy in San Francisco.

Shabu-Sen
( local favorites » restaurants ) "How can a restaurant with only two main dishes be so good?" Tired of waiting for indecisive friends who take 20 minutes to figure out what they want to order? Take them here! Shabu-Sen specializes in shabu-shabu and sukiyaki, traditional Japanese meals consisting of tender slices of beef, vegetables, pasta... read more

Buca Di Beppo
( local favorites » restaurants ) "Loud and wacky, but also tasty and cheap" Buca De Beppo is best experienced with a group of loud, boisterous, HUNGRY friends. The food here is served family-style -- each dish is enough for two, but costs about what it should for one. You'll feel like you walked into an Italian stereotype... read more

Umbria
( local favorites » restaurants ) "Pricey but good Italian in the heart of SoMa" Tasty old-style Italian in the heart of the SoMa business district. Excellent seasonal ravioli (my favorite is the pumpkin ravioli). Alcohol prices usually double the cost of the meal, however.
