I have been trying to put my finger on something for five years now. Why it is that I get so absolutely happy when I see Crunchy. I've sat here, reading her Tribe page for a while now, marinating with the "why." And I think I got it. So I'm going to try to write it. And hope it turns out as graceful as I hope it might:

Crunchy's hugs are always given to me at a time I don't necessarily need the particular comfort that they suggest. It's always upon arrival at a show, with nervous tingling about what's to come, and how many asses we will rock. Her hugs however, are, for me, so filled with this crazy-calming maternal energy - something I have not felt for almost seven years since my own mother passed away, and probably sometime even before that.

I can't put my finger on it, but something about her hugs is so genuine, so warm and so comforting that even days later I find myself still surrounded by fuzzies. I have this space in my immediate surrounding, close to me and always in reach where I store Crunchy's hugs for a time when I do need to feel warm and comforted. Even when long months have gone by and I can't even recount the last time I saw her, I know they are there. And when I need them, when it's cold and dark and I can't see the road or figure out what I'm supposed to do and feel abandoned and lost.... I reach to that space and retrieve them, and I'm warm again.

She is truly magic, embodied.

A woman who walks the earth, but lives life like a guardian angel. Honest and loving, she gives the best gift a person could ever want- a genuine love, and always sharing her true feelings. When you have succeeded in making this woman mad, its easily resolved. quickly realize that it absolutely is your fault, and make amends. For i have never seen her generate rudeness- only react to it.
The world is a far brighter place with this woman in it.

crunchy... the sweetest woman ever... with sick business sense mixed with a soft, genuine heart. natural colors suit her well in this day glo world. she projects love sitting low on stage with a fire blanket and wide smile. she is quick with the oh shit bag and is the emotional glue of mutaytor. i love her to bits and have a secret agenda to marry her... ;)

Mama Crunchy's the bee's knees, dig? Always there for you when you need her, with nary a thought as to all the other myriad stuff she has to deal with. Truly one of the most warm-hearted, selfless, nurturing women I know - I'm honored and very lucky to know her... as you should be!

Hope to see you there!!!

Six months after stealing the show at the sold out Sea of Dreams NYE party, the Mutaytor returns to San Francisco with a massive 30+ piece lineup and a bevy of fresh new music. Touring on the acclaim of their 2008 release Yelling Theatre in a Crowded Fire” the Mutaytor has grown from an electrified cabaret act into a rock-electronica monster. The songs on “Yelling Theatre” were their most elaborately crafted, instrument-packed and live-band optimized. Consequently, the show has grown accordingly from one with a musical experience to match the acts already substantial visual spectacle. Producer-composers Buck Down and Atom Smith have moved out from behind their laptops and taken positions behind guitar and keys respectively, and percussionist Brady Spindle moonlights on acoustic guitar now as well. With bassist John Avila (Oingo Boingo) turntablist Motion Potion, 3 drummers and a full horn section, the result is a musical output matched only by the energy of the visual team.

The Mutaytor fortifies this massive musical prowess with well-choreographed performances by dancers, aerialists, hoopers, contortionists and fire performers, many of whom are considered the cream of Los Angeles’s performance-art crop. The culmination of this transformation was realized at February’s sold-out “Art of Change Inaugural Ball” at LA’s Mayan Theatre, when a huge crowd delighted to the triumph of a brilliant album realized in a theatrical setting. The Mutaytor has become to modern music, what Aida was to opera.

Break Science is the culmination of a career of beat bending by its brainchild, Adam Deitch and Borahm Lee, who lends his keyboard soundscapes to Adam’s modern palate. Whether performing a DJ set with drums / programming or helming a live band, Break Science is club music in the vein of a “live mix tape,” blending live trip-hop, broken-beat, dub, drum & bass and hip-hop. Break Science takes Deitch’s hip-hop beats and flips them through drum&bass and a mesh of styles to form a live remix that pushes the boundaries of live electronic music. This is the future – where technique meets technology in a hybrid that only Adam Deitch could imagine.

Hi everyone,
I know it's last minute, but I hope you can come out to the SmashLabs this coming Monday, Nov 10th for a special "Friends and Family" party to support 999 eyes. They put on a fabulous show, and it's a rare thing to have such an intimate opportunity to see them downtown. But please don't post the address to the Labs on any lists or emails as they want to keep this small and manageable . If you want to come and don't know the location, please email me at crunchy@mutaytor.com

999 EYES Authentic Vaudevillian FREAKSHOW
The “I Y FREAKS” tour
Monday Nov 10 $9 (of course)
SmashLabs

“THE FREAKSHOW IS BACK” ABC channel 7 news. El Paso TX

As the last authentic human oddities Freakshow (verified on National Geographic’s Taboo and WE TV’s Secret lives of Women), the troupe offers a vaudevillian show so unique, you won’t believe your eyes. The troupe recreates the world, one Freakshow at a time, with their highly talented cast of Vaudevillian Performers.

Performers include REAL living Freaks (such as a lil’ miss firefly, the 27” Woman, the Lobster Boy, the human tripod girl and more), Fabulous clowns, Lady Diabla (One of only eleven Female Sword Swallowers in the world), and of course, a live seven piece circus band, THAT Damned Band.

You will love the music. THAT Damned Band sounds like a circus train wreck’t into a hobo camp where wandering Jews and travelers from Eastern Europe have been learning Irish drinking songs from Tom Waits. The show is complete with an attractive backdrop of original hand-painted sideshow banners and an authentic traveling dime museum that magically transforms any venue into a carnival midway.

This vaudevillian-style carnival extravaganza displays the notion that genetic diversity is something to be celebrated and not ignored! Don’t take my word for it, interviews with the Freak Performers and Project Founder can be read at www.999eyes.com and obtained through our PR contact, Sam X.

My Profile

about me
Been working for record labels since I was 19 in artist development/marketing. I adore our dogs, and In life, I try to stay positive - read the Desiderata often. Every experience you have is something you can learn from...but then, move on. Try to stay positive and focused in life - and treat everything around you as you want to be treated. It's the easiest way to find happiness. I'm incredibly proud of my friends - for their creativity, their generosity and their spirit. I feel younger now than I did at 22.
