Well, I'm back. I can feel my hands again, and I can't stop wearing this bunny beanie I got in Banff. It has ridiculously long ears, which leads many to believe it is in fact a donkey hat. Well, it's not.
Once again, I forgot to catalogue all the events of the trip as they happened, so now the trip itself is blur of snow, ice and inside family jokes.
So here.

Mind you, about half of these pictures were taken out of the window of a moving vehicle. Let's hear it for shutterbug action on the run.
Thanksgiving dinner itself was quite the experience. We were obviously not home, so we went through the list of open restaurants. We chose one promising steakhouse, only to find that it was a snooty establishment in the lobby of the local Radisson.
After 5 minutes waiting for someone to show up at the front to seat us, 15 minute wait for our menus and the waiter, we found that not only did their menu not match their online menu in any way, their prices had doubled.
They were under new management.
Well, good for them. We ate our escargot and lobster apple fritter appetizers (surprisingly amazing, by the way), and took off.
We settled on a place called "The Wood". I ordered the lobster bisque (jesus jumping christ it was good), and bison steak with elk tortellini.
Have I mentioned yet that I love ordering weird food at fancy restaurants?
All of this topped off with not so amazing house wine, an espresso creme brulee, and a new favorite drink.
Stoli martini, VERY dry, and up.
My father had been ordering them for years, so I decided to try. Classy, tasty and strong. Perfect date drink.
I always hesitate at ordering whiskey on a fancy date.
So! Other than feeling a bit like Violet Beauregarde being rolled out of the Chocolate Factory, it was a lovely (if somewhat unorthodox) thanksgiving.
Glad to be home. I want to sleep for three days.
