I think I started to turn my back on network news right about the same time that Tim Russert became the host of Meet the Press in 1991. However, over this decade-and-a-half, his show, along with 60 Minutes have remained in my eyes as the two vanguards of a free press on the major networks.

A vastly underrated journalist, I have always respected his willingness to turn the lens on his own profession, and admit when the press fails in it's duty to question the government.

He will be missed.
