please, make me blush

May 3, 2008
Yowza! Cynthia is sooooo many things (and all of them awesome!) She's smart, HILARIOUS, uber-HOT, and a redhead, which makes me love her even more! Plus she sat on my lap last night and let me grab her ass, which just makes me happy. I love when she comes to my parties - the girl cracks me up! "Stronger, Better, Faster, Retarded-er!"

Cynthia is like a warm fire at the end of a cold day. She can make you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside, even if you don't on the outside. However, just like that fire, if you mess with it too much you might find yourself a little singed. She is charming, funny, smart (including being a smart ass), disarming and even a little bratty, which is why I enjoy being around her. She is also a genuine and caring person and gives a lot of herself to the people she cares about. Beautiful blue eyes and a wonderful smile... simply put, she is awesome, and I can't believe I am the first person to say so here on Tribe.

moving reflections

I found out this afternoon that Joy Harjo was speaking at Stanford. It was years ago that I heard her work, and yet it was maybe a year and a half ago that I was in the Poetry for the People class with Lauren Muller. There are those professors.... and those poets....

~~~
This Is My Heart
This is my heart. It is a good heart.
Weaves a membrane of mist and fire.
When we make love in the flower world
My heart is close enough to sing to you
in a language too clumsy,
for human words.
This is my head. It is a good head.
Whirrs inside with a swarm of worries.
What is the source of this mystery.
Why can’t I see it right here, right now
as real as these hands hammering
the world together?
This is my soul. It is a good soul.
It tells me, “Come here forgetful one.”
And we sit together
We cook a little something to eat,
then a sip of something sweet,
for memory, for memory.
This is my song. It is a good song.
It walked forever the border of fire and water
climbed ribs of desire to sing to you.
Its new wings quiver with vulnerability.
Come lie next to me.
Put your head here.
My heart is close enough to sing.
~~~

Equinox

I must keep from breaking into the story by force
for if I do I will find myself with a war club in my hand
and the smoke of grief staggering toward the sun,
your nation dead beside you.

I keep walking away though it has been an eternity
and from each drop of blood
springs up sons and daughters, trees
a mountain of sorrows, of songs.

I tell you this from the dusk of a small city in the north
not far from the birthplace of cars and industry.
Geese are returning to mate and crocuses have
broken through the frozen earth.

Soon they will come for me and I will make my stand
before the jury of destiny. Yes, I will answer in the clatter
of the new world, I have broken my addiction to war
and desire. Yes, I will reply, I have buried the dead

and made songs of the blood, the marrow.

now you see me... now you don't.

I go back and forth on having pictures of my face on here. Sometimes, I lift the "friends only" part on some pics because I get tired of being a cartoon as an icon. It's kind of random.

About half of what I post on Tribe (pictures, blogs, discussion posts) are private. Kinda representative of me. So that feels about right.

about me
kinky, sassy pants, utterly independent, green, expressive (sometimes to a fault), student, professional, volunteer, flaky in an unassuming way, a great friend, an artist who has fallen out of practice but not lost the ability to see, a fan of public transportation in all of its glory, political junkie without the scowl and the ability to wonder and hope and do more.

i hope to meet and connect with lots of people on tribe, but i do not add people to my personal network that i do know know in real life (i.e., have we had a face to face conversation?)

November 2006, while on a work trip, I piggy-backed a trip to my friend's house in Florida where I debated a pair of Michael Kors clogs versus the absolute coolest brown suede moccasin boots with a thick wooden heel. Well, you can guess which one I came home with - the boots. And to be quite honest, they are still my favorite boots of all time.

But the clogs. Dammit, I didn't see another pair of those same Michael Kors clogs at another Shoe Pavilian. They were over $120, down from retail o... read more

If Prop 98 passes, we don't just lose rent control, we lose the protections of just cause, meaning that you can be evicted for any reason the landlord wants - including your lifestyle choices. Rent control makes it possible for us to live in our cities. These laws and protections were put in place to protect working class people, people with disabilities and seniors from evictions and unlawful rent increases.

*Please vote yes on Prop 99 and No on Prop 98.*

If we pass Prop 99, then Prop... read more

Nooooooo! No, don't fall!

And then you fell backwards across the marble stairs. I was so concerned that the overstuffed bag of blankets and towells not spill onto the sidewalk that it took me a minute to realize the damage. And then, well, then I had to try to pry you open to remove my other bag of laundry. Easy rider, you were the coolest cart on the block. You were shiny silver chrome where other people had lame colored carts. You had a high handle so that I could stand upright. Yes, I c... read more

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” ~ Dr. Seuss

It is Sunday, and I find myself sort of reflecting on Sunday afternoons. I can snuggle into the sofa and both kitties camp out on me, while I check email and whatnot and catch up on bad cable (not to be confused with good cable, i.e., Bill Maher). I can kind of reflect on things. It has been a good week. I got to spend time with people who are special to me, including see... read more

I never felt magic crazy as this
I never saw moons knew the meaning of the sea
I never held emotion in the palm of my hand
Or felt sweet breezes in the top of a tree
But now you're here
Brighten my northern sky.

[From Northern Sky by Nick Drake]

Today is Earth Day. And it smells amazing after the rain tonight. And this song always reminds me of the smell of crisp nights in Northern California or when I dream of seeing the northern lights someday soon. Take care of your planet and y... read more

Question about temporary arrangements (in Locked) Should formal arrangements be set up prior to attending the locked parties, or will there be a way for single submissives to connect at the party? Maybe on the tribe? What was the intent?

District five is alive? (in District 5) Is anyone active on this tribe? I was excited to see it on here, but it looks like things have gotten a bit dormant. There is the upcoming district supervisor race as well as a lot going on in our district. Anyone active locally?
