A dude called the restaurant to compain that the small red-haired server wasn't nice enough. That's me. A couple things come to mind here. For one thing, who is this person who goes to a restaurant and calls in later to compain, not that the server was neglectful or rude or forgot their order, but just wasn't nice enough? And then, why doesn't this person go to some other restaurant? I was thinking afterward about how the job of a server is, in a certain regard, to keep everyone happy, ...

I just spent forty five minutes writing a nice long blog post that the internet god gobbled up as soon as I hit send. So now I'm all pissy and resentful and am just going to write the bullet-points of my previously perfect and glorious blog entry, as follows:

I am looking for a place to live. In Portland Oregon. Preferably in Southeast. Under 400 dollars would be nice. Where I can brew beer and have guests, and people talk to each other about their problems with each other, preferably in normal speaking voices. Preferably when sober, without the use of expletives, ideally in the light of day, and without alienating everyone in the room. Which is to say, our landlady is kicking us out, and I don't think I'm asking too much.

My dad is doing, relatively speaking, remarkably well. The chief difficulty lies in his learning to talk again. He's walking and his mobility has been improving daily, which is exciting because each day there are new developments. This morning, he tied his own shoes. For day six of a stroke, this is not half bad. Yesterday, he even ran, which scared the bejeezus out of me. We pulled into the parking lot and he noticed a car pulling out with a mini stereo forgotton on top. Unable to com...
