Fall is here!
(blog entry)
I was reading about how we all have internal seasons yesterday. I have always thought of myself as having internal seasons or waxing and waning with a variety of aspects in my life. Most notably creative efforts, organizational efforts, and rom...

little changes
(blog entry)
I have been thinking a lot lately about what change is and how it manifests or doesn't in one's life. I keep coming back to the idea that each of our lives is rather like a coral reef. We are the accumulation of thousands of little choices and a...

I highly recommend Joe Abercrombie's The Blade Itself and Before They are Hanged. WOW! He is such a wonderful story teller. His characters are well developed, warts and all. I am SO eager to get my hands onthe third in this trilogy. I have gott...

ok--so I fell off the planet
(blog entry)
I must apologise-- I fell off the planet into a sea of overwork and exhaustion. Even worse, the overwork was on someone else's dream, not my own. Anyhow, I am back, rededicating myself to mask making, sculpture, fiber arts, painting, life. Wish...

I was reading about how we all have internal seasons yesterday. I have always thought of myself as having internal seasons or waxing and waning with a variety of aspects in my life. Most notably creative efforts, organizational efforts, and romantic involvements. Ironically they rarely seem to correspond to the external seasons. Perhaps I am Austrailian in my heart, but our fall is when things often go "BLOOM and GROW" in my life. So as we get ready to bid goodbye to summer with Labor D...

I highly recommend Joe Abercrombie's The Blade Itself and Before They are Hanged. WOW! He is such a wonderful story teller. His characters are well developed, warts and all. I am SO eager to get my hands onthe third in this trilogy. I have gotten to be pretty critical of fantasy novels. If I am going to be bothered to learn a new world I want it to be wonderful. Joe has it covered. It is a rich world peopled with compelling, flawed, but oh so human and therefore sypathetic characters. ...

I have been checking out some Mohammed Yunus reading. He is the Nobel Peace Prize winner in econ from a couple of years ago. Fabulous theory and practice on how to help the impoverished to help themselves. I found a brief video thing on him on Chicago Crain's Business. I find it ironic when the mainstream rah rah captalism press does specials on people like him. They are so obviously confused by the ideas, but they don't want to sound dumb or insensitive. Sigh. ithink he may have some ...
