My Testimonials

November 16, 2005
Who would think that a Canadian born Japanese living Andrew and I would have met up at burning to become such good friends? I didn't see it coming, but I am happy to have had it happen. As a "good" guy I give you two thumbs up!

Andrew sent me a present from Japan. It was a box of individually-wrapped pink effervescent tablets, and there were cherry blossom images on the box. Immediately, I was suspicious. This man wouldn't send me normal bubble bath. The box also had mysterious pictures of a t-shirt and a marijuana plant. I consulted many Japanese people to read and translate the box to make sure it was safe to take a bath in.

(I'm just kidding. Andrew is a very good listener and sent me the best bath salts ever.)

Andrew is one of those creative, passionte thinkers and someone who likes to live life with zest.

so I gotta sell the pair of tickets I have at will-call... if anyone you know is interested in a pair of tickets at $225 each, have them contact me: rockin @ gmail . com. I'm having a hella time selling these since they gotta go as a set (re: I only have 1 confirmation number for 2 tickets)

thanks!

Emi and I arrived Sunday... thank god she's an expat... the movers took care of ALL the packing... like our whole apartment was done by 3guys in just around 11hrs... with the amount of stuff we have, it would have easily taken 2-3weeks if we did it... (I really don't believe that some people would do it themselves if there was the option... after seeing those guys work, I was tired!) Now it's all on a slow boat over and we're in a temporary apartment until our stuff arrives.

The last week in Japan was just nuts. Farewell parties every night... it was a real marathon and I barely kept up. Emi was freaking about the move here. I just wanted to keep my liver. One of the first farewells was all you can drink, but no beer... aaah... the wine did me in on that night. Seeing people off was a bit sad... everyone wanted me to stay but really, it's better that I go, so I can come back later. Take care of the company until then! Even though I "quit" work, I'm still following stuff up... like another patent! and some other documents... man, work just never quits. Must stop working for free... thanks to taxes, I never did get my last pay cheque... grrr....

but life as a house husband here is quite interesting. cooking, laundry, cleaning, sniffing out open wifi points... all in a days work, right? Thank god one of these wifi points here was open.

oh, to my friends at Sony Ericsson, SORRY! I got a Nokia phone... I thought 1euro was the cheapest for a phone, but at the store I got the phone from, they gave me 60euro cash to take the nokia! 60euros in cash, right then and there! I paid 1euro for the phone, but got 60euros back... now I gotta find an internet provider that has a similar deal...

all my burning man friends: sorry. no burn for this year. :-( i really wanted to go but it's going to be WAY too nuts then... maybe the full moon then will put together a miracle...?

After months of internal company politics... it's finally moving forward: Emi & I are moving to Germany...

Emi met up with HR last Monday and everything has been decided. We'll be in Germany from July 1st. Last day at work for me is... sometime in June... who knows?! Movers will be checking out our place this weekend. We're off to visit Germany in 2 weeks. Everything is a go and at full speed. Somehow, having things delayed has been good. Mostly with: finding new BM regionals to take over once I leave. (They're crazier than me!)

aaah, I've been very quiet on LJ recently. Have passed out my "wedding entry" link quite a lot and there's probably a lot more people I know reading this thing and I want to keep less "friends-only" posts. Part of me wanting to be more open.

Just got back from snowboarding. Man, I thought last year's weather was bad but snow in Japan this year has just sucked. Like avoiding dirt patches in Feb?! wtf?! Thank god there was a snowboard park at the resort and I started to get some more air on the jumps. Getting a solid 3seconds and landing it. Woohoo! If I have another run this season, more air and maybe hit the jumps goofy...

Unbelievably, we got a Wii... and it's been... FUN. like really. emi NEVER played video games before but after playing it at the inlaws over the new year, she wanted one BAD. she's actually better than me at some games too. That "Smooth Moves: Made In Wario" is seriously nuts. The perfect ADD game. (note to self, upload my Mii... anyone else with a wii? Our wii number: 2643787097558547)

Things are still moving forward with Europe. More internal politics on Emi's side but everything is looking good. Even though her company is not as "cool" as mine, her company bought out a $5bil US company a few years ago... while mine... did that a few decades ago. I'm looking forward to some time off in europe. Another reason why I haven't hit the slopes this much this year... looking forward to being the ski bum next year. ;-)

Been lurking a lot on everyone's friends pages here but have been working at work more. Low level programming... w00t!
