My Blog

In each seasons time and place something new arises, shaped from the memory of what came before.
Purified and brought forth again until it's form, it's voice and fragrance, reveal the intention and the promise you would express and share. Like flowers in the vase of your self, arranged just so, a gift renewed and changing through the seasons of your being.
The secrets of your heart, what you care for with faith and certainty, growing and blooming within you. The garden inside, and what flourishes there.

Asleep in the night, still you give rise to creation. Your dreaming moments alive with the expression of your soul. Blanketed by snow, quiet and still, you only appear to be at rest. I see you stir beneath the covers and I can feel the excitement, the anticipation of your ideas become expression in the vase and valley of your body.

Any moment now you'll awaken and open your eyes in this new season, this new day, this new chance to tell your story in the gifts you lay before us, the poetry and architecture of your dreams and awakening spirit.

drifting slowly,
like snow falling,
breath and glance,
come gently to rest,
on the face of my beloved.

What should I imagine about your hands
If with your eyes alone
you so easily posses my surrender

or your words
which never say
what the sound of your voice reveals

neither touch nor request
and yet held

spellbound and helpless
am I

Here's the hard part.
It's just a story.

What Einstein said, what Buddha said, what your mom said, your teachers at school, your husband or wife or partner, it's all just a story.
There's what we observe, and then the story we tell ourselves and each other about what it means, what it is, and why it's happening.
We're all looking out from the lens of our past experience, our past lives, and the memory of the stories we've heard and taken to heart.

We're vessels filled with stories and some stories leave no room for others. We call these stories facts.
Science says, the Church says, the Judge says, here are the facts, and to remain facts they must not wither in the face of a different story.
Fact's don't bend, slide, undulate, drift, waver, twist, reincarnate, or do anything messy like the living do.
Science says, this is the truth, but we may discover a deeper truth later, and then that will be the truth. The church says this is the truth about God, but if a Saint has any further revelations we'll let you know what the new truth is. The Judge says this is the law, but if it changes we'll let you know, and then that will be the law.
Until then, these are the Facts, the Truth, and the Law.

Some stories leave no room inside.

If it's all just a story then maybe leave some room, and hold the story lightly in case you're inspired.
In case you're bowled over by beauty, lifted on a wave of inspiration, swamped in the sadness of revelation or adrift in a sea of understanding.

Leave some room for the eyes of another, for a vision of abundance, or kindness, or compassion.
Leave some room, and then fill it up, but lightly, softly and nearly transparent.
Hold open the gate of your heart and welcome a version of the story that feels like Light and Health and Beauty if you believed it for awhile. Until something more loving, more inclusive and more poetic comes along.
Then let it gently sweep the gossamer beliefs you allowed to drift through you away on the wings of the new.

This isn't the truth.......... it's just a story......

I spoke with the sun today and he said to tell you that he loves you.
He said he hopes your always turning toward him, not away, as you spin to keep your balance in the universe.
He said he loves everything about you, your mountains and rivers, your glaciers and forests and all the beautiful lights that play upon the surface of you. He hasn't seen those lights because his love for you is so bright. The little gems that breath and dance are hard for him to see. He's heard about this part of you from the moon and stars.
They make poetry about the color of your soul as it moves upon the surface, swims beneath the waves, and flies through the air. What he can't see because his love is so bright, he hears about from those who, like he does, look always to you.
Your beauty travels in stories, told across the vast and quiet spaces,
in the poetry of heavenly bodies.
He loves you best though, he says, and lives as close as he can to you.

I spoke to the sun today, and then made this prayer for you.

I pray that all the blessing in the world fall on you and wash over you like clear sweet water, and the wind brings you the fragrance of distant blooms. I pray you stand out in the open tonight, so the moon and stars can see you and be blessed by the light of your soul.
Move slowly through the day so that all who love you get an extra moment with you.
The world woke up today looking forward to seeing you, and like me, will miss you until I do.

The sun sends his light and love to you, while he waits to hear about the light in you, and listens to the story of the soul he cannot see.

Re: meditation? (in Dark Goddesses) It's funny you say that Mojo, I've been accused of day dreaming all my life, even though I'm productive. People are always asking me, where were you just now ? I tend not to say that I was spiraling deeply into a feeling or thought, but just that ... read more

Re: crazy dream from a crazy dreamer (in Ayahuasca) Thanks for this post LLB. It got me talking with some folks here and the idea it seems is sort of organically taking shape. I found a couple of folks into the idea of sharing plants and knowledge. It's helped me meet some people right in my area.

Re: meditation? (in Dark Goddesses) I find myself with so much responsibility that actual time, just quiet time, is brief during the spring season. To be clear, I've taken on all the responsibilities I have, I'm not being forced into it, and some are commitments between myself and m... read more

Re: crazy dream from a crazy dreamer (in Ayahuasca) great post LLB.

"what i am speaking of is integrating sustainability and ethics into current ayahausca consumption in a way that creates a culture of the sacred revolving around how we obtain it in the first place."

My Bio

Location
about me
www.thestranger.com/seattle/Content

I'm interested in local and global charitable relationships,
and volunteer where I can lend a hand.

Locally I volunteer by working at Discovery Park, where we plant
trees, get rid of invasive species, and return areas that used to be asphalt and buildings back to being a forest.

I'm a member of a local HIV/AIDS organization and donate each year to help provide meals for HIV affected persons in need.

I've been supporting a family in Africa for 10years, and along with monthly contributions for food and welfare I'm putting the oldest boy through medical school. He's going to graduate this year, 2008, and begin his internship with a local hospital for 2 yrs. After that he'll return to school to get an advanced degree.
His is a family of AIDS orphans, gathered together by an older auntie who had lost her own family to AIDS. She went after help for her new "family" and we found each other through a good organization working over there. Barnabas has long since graduated from the program because of his age, so I sponsor his continued education and welfare privately. When Barnabas age took him out of the charitable program, I started sponsoring another family member who's name is Winny, keeping assistance coming to this one family over time.

I can't change the whole world, but this relationship let's me express my commitment and care to one family far away and in need of help. I'll continue to do this for the rest my life. Barnabas, Winny and Dorca, along with the new little ones, are my family by choice.

I've spent time helping out in Africa at an AIDS clinic , in India supporting a project for widows, in Mexico repairing roads, and at home here in the USA in a variety of ways.

Currently at work, I'm building residences for The 17th Karmapa at a Buddhist center in Seattle.
I'm happily married, look after an extensive garden, and continue opening doors on the spiritual path.

Here's a list of some of the books on my desk today. 1/29/2008

Vine of the Soul, and Plants of the Gods, by Richard Evans Schultes, Christian Ratsch, and Albert Hofman.
The Shock Doctrine, by Naomi Klein
