Charming New Children’s Book Presents Colorful Lessons of Self-Discovery
Tue, October 30, 2007 - 12:08 PMHAMBURG, Germany / August 26, 2008 – Esperanza: or How to Fly Mister Moonpye, is a new picture book written by world traveler Amarina and gorgeously illustrated by Till Laßmann. It tells the story of a little girl named Esperanza who goes on an introspective adventure with a rainbow-colored dragon named Mister Moonpye.
When little Esperanza questions what will make her over-worked mother happy, she seeks guidance from her wise grandmother and begins to examine what will indeed make herself content. Author Amarina takes readers on a playful adventure while highlighting the need to look deep within oneself, where dreams and hopes lie, steering away from one’s fearful mind. Most importantly, according to the author, “esperanza” (hope) is essential for any wish to come true.
The heart-warming story comes from the author’s experience in her great efforts and success in following her own dreams to travel the world. Growing up in grey East Berlin behind the Wall, Amarina later saw her world change into a colorful place, validating her beliefs that anything can undergo positive changes. Amarina encourages readers to write down their own dreams, “if you want to fly Mister Moonpye too, it starts with a dream from your heart.”
Children will adore the cheerful illustrations and the inspiring story, and parents will cherish the special messages about individuality. In a fun-to-read approach, Esperanza: or How to Fly Mister Moonpye is sure to be a cherished addition to any home or school library.
