Located 4705 NE Columbia on the 75 bus line. The Circadia Art Center is a dedicated group of community volunteers, artists, visionaries and activists, incorporated in June 2009 to provide the city of Portland, Oregon a supporting space of the Arts, and education center for the performing, visual, movement and audio arts, as well as resource for educators cooperating with the collective art population of Portland. The formation of the organization was conceived out of the desire of the board members to provide high quality and accessible infrastructural and educational resources for a community that has exceptional artists and educators of art alike. Linking these communities to the public, across multiple languages and cultures, providing a larger participatory community for the whole, is the ultimate goal. Based in the Northeast section of Portland, our organization provides classes and workshops in a variety of arts, and a community center for educational institutions. Additionally, we provide in the same venue space for showcasing artists, performances and community events. We look to provide more of a community resource in the future as a non-profit community center of the arts.

Our organization is not fully operational, however our aims are to be so by November 1st, 2009. Remaining on our task list of items to complete include: building modifications, streamlined class registration, solidified relationships with educational entities, and programmatic movements of art. The organizational activities of Circadia Art Center are headed by an Executive committee, being a subset of the Board of Directors for said corporation, namely; the president, vice-president, and treasurer. A network of volunteers helps run the majority of activities including art shows and benefit concerts. Currently, there are no paid staff members, however since our non-profit is highly tied to the building as the enabling infrastructure, the plan of the corporation to obtain staff to maintain the building inclusive of: management, janitorial, promotional and financial duties. All qualifications are being compiled into a grouping of documents detailing these purposes. These staffing needs are being discovered both by observation of other similar non-profit entities, as well as discovery of situations that arise from pursuing our aims within the community. The board of directors, and other highly regarded volunteers have combined experience in art curation, event coordination, management of human and financial resources, information technology, restaurant and bar management, non-profit direction and multi-national aid foundations. Together, we form a very diverse, yet very talented directed source of guidance for the corporation that has an ear to what desires and needs the community in which it is part of has. We promote our activities and resources through various informative channels including: our website, facebook, craigslist, printed flyer's, and other promotional channels.
