Gogol Bordello

Ahhhhhh...
They were rather marvelous!
It actually felt like they were enjoying themselves and were bothered about the kind of night that we were having....
Go see them if you can!
Great crowd too...Long live Rock City.

Sunday, Sunday

and what a lovely dancetastic one it was too...
A whole 3 hours of intensive instruction in a mirrored studio from Donna and Lezlie, with a private individual feedback session too....it was really useful, with some pleasant surprises about what I CAN do! (a novelty!)
Then in the evening Desert Jewels - new venue at FiveLamps in Derby...featuring Raven, Tatty, Diana and Ozgen......pictures to follow....though I have a video of Ozgen for private viewing..........;)

Hafla...

Had a lovely time at the Hafla in Stoke! Thanks to everyone who helped to make it happen. Good food, pleasant friendly bar staff, lovely things to buy, lots of varied performances from lots of different people. Everyone there made us feel really welcome! Thankyou! It was also great to get my ATS improve groove on again...feels like AGES since I last performed with the tribal mussis as a tribal duet! Just hope it didn't look too rusty!

Haflas

There are just so many at the moment!
Went to a lovely one on Saturday in Nottingham (thanks Tatty).
I really liked the venue, even if it was a bit chilly! There were mugs of tea and coffee to warm up with.
Real effort had been made to create a stage area with 'wings' to enter from, and large lengths of fabric created a canopy to dance under. One of our little student caberet gang won the Luxor holiday prize in the raffle, which was very exciting too!
We also got little boxes of chocolates for our performance! Nice!

That There London

So at the last minute Paul is too ill to go.
We've paid for the coach seats (a Repton to Marble Arch and back locally arranged thingy)
so I think sod it, I shall go alone..... bit late to ask anyone to join me (7am....due to leave in an hour)
So I wandered around trying and failing to shop and settled on the British Museum in the end. Sat around in there drawing dragons with other people who wanted a sit down but not a cup of tea.... meandered around Africa and the Americas for a change...bugged the desk about First Emperor exhibition...sold out again. Wandered around King's Library, love what they've done with that. Had a nice chat about museums with a curator then headed off to Oxford Street. At the gate I met someone with a spare ticket to the exhibition, so I bought it from him - ta where-ever you are....hope you found the tall blonde brother/cousin person.....- and had a lovely wander round that. After that it was all shoes and doughnuts in Selfridges.....
