about me
I am the Director of Sacred Dance Company, a venue for cultural dance performed by women, and Troupe Tavari Tribal Belly Dance. I am also the Director for Alaska's newest theatrical dance production company known as "Echoes of Middle Earth". I am also proud to dance with and assist as Tribal Director for "A Muse Production," directed by my friend Melissa. I am an instructor and professional performer of Tribal Belly Dance with a strong base in ATS in Beautiful Downtown Palmer, Alaska. I have recently started stepping out of the Tribal Box and embracing the many forms of dance I only watched before. I love it!! I am currently working on a curriculum for pre-teens and teens to teach them a grounded foundation through dance, as they set out on their path. I am the owner and designer of The Naked Parrot Originals. You can see my work at tribes.tribe.net/nakedparrot or my website: www.NakedParrotDesigns.etsy.com I completed my Doctorate of Divinity with an emphasis on Christian Theology and World Religions and am also a Holistic Practitioner: Specializing in Traditional Usui System Reiki (Master /Teacher),Reflexology, Ear Candling, Intuitive Release and Spiritual Counseling. I am not a religious person per say, but am a spiritual person that has learned much and has much more to learn. This world fasinates me and am amazed at the beautiful people I have met.

Joanna to me is the embodiment of the tribal ideal. When she dances, time slows...words like matriarchy, ancient sacred dance, and Veritas come into my mind. You know you are in the presence of an amazing and wise soul. She is also an amazing artist, visionary and friend. She glows brightly and lights the path of all who are lucky enough to share her path. Oh...and she also can be as funny and sexy as hell! I love her!

Fun teacher! Easy to get along with! This last month has been sheer enjoyment for me because of Joanna's classes! I get more out of them than she knows!!!

Joanna is the reason I was able to begin bellydancing! What better testimonial than that?!?! Without her generous love, support and giving of studio space, Meyva would never have continued, Tribal Reign would never have been born and I might never have begun to fulfill my dream of being a bellydancer.......Thanks Jo! Love you so much!

I can not express the awe inspiring group of women that I was so privaledged to meet and dance with. This was by far, an experience I will never forget. Suhalia was one of the nicest, down to earth superstar I have met. Her sense of humor, knowledge of anatomy, and genuine interaction gave way for a fabulous experience.
