Audience at tea party debate cheers leaving uninsured to die-
If you're uninsured and on the brink of death, that's apparently a laughing matter to some audience members at last night's tea party Republican presidential debate.

Texas Rep. Ron Paul, a doctor, was asked a hypothetical question by CNN host Wolf Blitzer about how society should respond if a healthy 30-year-old man who decided against buying health insurance suddenly goes into a coma and requires intensive care for six months. Paul--a fierce limited-government advocate-- said it shouldn't be the government's responsibility. "That's what freedom is all about, taking your own risks," Paul said and was drowned out by audience applause as he added, "this whole idea that you have to prepare to take care of everybody …"

"Are you saying that society should just let him die?" Blitzer pressed Paul. And that's when the audience got involved.

Several loud cheers of "yeah!" followed

sheesh...while we're at it let's start euthanizing poor people who ask for money on the street and make us feel bad about our comfortable lives.

All of that cheering will die off when someone in *thier* family needs emergency medical or rescue services. Middle ground, people, please?

I wonder what they think the function of a "society" is... (but only for a short while, then I realise I don't really want to know the details of some people's thought processes).

It's not that they think all SICK people should die. They think taxes should pay for military, churches should take care of poor people, and anyone who doesn't AGREE with them should die.

And little babies might be persuaded to agree with them, and help them achieve world domination, so they don't kill them yet.

Indeed. Plenty of countries work on a different system and have some level of health care outside an insurance system.. you would think a country as rich as the States could pull it off.. yes, probalby not now after being raped by bankers and corporates... but thats another discussion...

Fucking ticks. Poluticanians are blood-suckers. Who pay their wages? We pay them to fuck us with truck loads of sandy vasoline?
Liar, thieves, perverts and, to top it all off, we voted for them knowing they were lying through their teeth!
Statesmens, Where?

Taxes paying for military and military actions and funneling money to the elite classes while the churches took 'care' of poor people was pretty much the status quo in medieval times. Now that's something to strive for.

... not that this dampens your point in any sense, but that also sounds more or less like the 19th century.

pro-life only counts if it means you are capable of controlling another life yet this party wants limited government involvement. Sucking and blowing must be lucrative.
