Moving on

Dear Friends,

I am very excited to soon be transitioning to an entirely new adventure. I will be moving from the mountain home and community where I have been teaching massage, Asian medicine, and energy healing for the last two years and embarking on an intensive study of Permaculture and Medical Qigong Healing.

Things are changing quite rapidly in my world and I am putting the call out to community for any assistance in easeful transition.

I will be moving in just two short weeks, I still do not quite know where, but I will be studying every week in the Monterey, Ca area. I am seeking a working and living situation that will involve a great deal of gardening and plenty of time for my personal practice - Ideally and intentional community or Organic farming situation.

It is very possible that I will end up slightly north of San Fransisco and commute down to the Monterey area. In this event, I will be looking for someone with which to stay for two nights of the week - or possibly camp in their yard with my little tent. I can exchange massage, qigong healing, holistic nutritional and herbal consultation, cooking, and cleaning. I am hoping to find a friend in the monterey/Santa Cruz/or boulder creek area. I am also looking for a house sitting, or subletting opportunity for the month of February while I make my move to this new life, schedule, and locale.

If you have leads on helping me to fulfill any of these needs, I would be very appreciative if you send that info along.

As another part of the newest phase in my life, since my ordination I am offering all of my healing work on a donation basis in order to make it more widely accessible. This will soon be listed in the "services" section of my website I am practicing consultations, Qigong therapy, and Asian bodywork in the northern california area, as well as offering consultations and energy healing from a distance via email. If you or someone you know is interested in this kind of work - or if you would like to support my dharma practice, please inquire with me further.

Thanks so much!

the prez

I don' know if president-elect Obama is really as amazing as he sounds, or if he just has a great speech writer, but DAMN.
To hear the president of the US talk about investing in alternative energy and transparency in spending and accounting is just knocking my socks off. I know there is a long way to go in this country, but I do feel a sense of hope in this moment that perhaps the same values I uphold might just make it to the forefront of peoples minds.... maybe because of a little pain, but not because of the great suffering that is possible if we continue on in the way we have been.

Wishing you all prosperity, ease, and honesty in the year of the Earth Ox

reishi mushroom and poor choices do not mix

Note to self: Sugar and coffee make you go crazy - remember this.

I think it must be the mushroom tincture I'm using. I have tons of energy and inspiration - definite improvement during the times I've been using this tincture. Only problem is that if I engage in less than optimum dietary or thought choices I feel anxiety and frustration almost instantly.

This is different from the raw-foods diet that once made me go slightly crazy all the time. It's not a reduction in my ability to tolerate the world. This is more like being clued in to what is always happening when I engage such choices - only rather than having it all spread out in general mediocrity, it all hits me at once, because it doesn't match what the rest of the system is doing.

Well, i guess that's one way to clean up my act - just make it intolerable to do anything else.

Road trippin

Dear Friends,

I'll be taking a trip for the next week through the Monterey Bay area, Southern Cal, and Las Vegas... I am offering bodywork sessions and nutritional/herbal consultations if anyone in these areas is interested.

Went out to a bar for the first time in a while the other night.

Actually, that wasn't part of the plan... but you see my car kicked the proverbial bucket and i needed a friend to give me a ride for the hour and 45 minute trip home... a movie and a trip to see his friend's band was part of the bargain.... well, after sushi and sake, movie and espresso, i was having a good time, and hanging at the bar and dancing till wee hours... having all these thoughts about how I should let go of control a little more often and have a few extra drinks and live a little and relax.......

And now i'm sick ;) (not bad, just enforced restfulness really)

And it puts me back on the track of detox and meditate - it's true though that there must be a balance, but i think it's more in the heart than in any physical activities. A soft heart, drunken and dancing is what I really crave.... and perhaps i can save myself some of the cost that comes of actual drunkeness and smokey bars!

So, i'm still pondering if it's Really what I want to do to move south to Monterey.... i looked up the start date for the program i'll be taking there... it happens to fall exactly on the last day of classes here at Heartwood. Things don't really get much more synchronistic ;) I'm greatful that the universe is compassionate enough to make her messages to me on the obvious side.

Quick, who do i know in Santa Cruz????

Dear friends..... it is always so interesting to me how this universe works - the institute where I live and teach will be closing it's doors to residential students for a while to focus on becoming a world class permaculture center. Way cool, i know - and it happens to leave me looking for a vision of what I will do next.

Yesterday I found that vision, which involves training with a certain qigong master, and that will happen in Pacific Grove, CA. The program just happens to begin exactly when my teaching commitment here ends - like within days.

Right now I am contemplating my options in moving to that area and am looking to network with locals about starting a bodywork practice, co-housing, farm shares, and basically all that good ol hippie local, sustainable, spiritually thriving, community stuff.

if you have any leads for me, i'd love to hear them... i'm looking to transition in February.
