My Blog

I just found out about a Welcome Week talent show at my college, ABAC, on August 16th. YES! A show! BAHAHAHAHA! A chance to ENTERTAIN!

It's in 18 days!

Can I....

... work on my costume?
... drill drill drill?
... dance every day?
... lose a pound or two?
... CHOOSE A SONG?

The countdown begins!

First, the good:

I danced with my zills today for the first time in months, and I was rockin' out. I don't seem to have regressed any in zill-skillz, so that's awesome.

The bad:

Just when I was starting to feel good about how I look as a dancer, I went to the Y to work out, and I ran into an old guy who said, "Hey! I haven't seen you in a while! I didn't recognize you, you've put on some weight!" GRRRR!!!!!!

Ass!

Well, I took another hiatus from bellydance after my last performance in February. But I'm back. ARGH WHY CAN'T I STICK WITH IIIIITTT BETTERRRR....

Anyway... all that matters is that I'm back, not gone forever. I doubt I could ever get away from the bellydance bug anyway.

So, crap. I'm back and all that, dancing, practicing, etc., then I realized that early August I'm going for a consultation about corrective surgery for my shoulder issue (bone impingement). Which means, when I get the ... read more

Last night I went to Jacksonville, FL with my honey to see the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra perform Copland, Saint-Saens, and Mendelssohn. The "headliner" piece was Copland's "Appalachian Spring", one of my favorite classical works. I got tears in my eyes in the first few minutes. This was my first time going to a concert. I love classical music, so I was giddy the entire time. In May the JSO is performing Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff, and we'll be going to that one too. I'm so excited! :-... read more

I love jellyfish (pictured are some lit-up moon jellies at the Georgia Aquarium)... I think I'll try to move like them...

I am exploring a more holistic approach to my bellydancing, starting tonight. I was inspired by reading around on the Holistic Bellydance tribe. I want a deeper, more satisfying practice... so tonight I started out with a different kind of practice than what I usually do... I did one particular yoga sequence to one full song (I always practice yoga to my Christopher of ... read more

My Recent Activity

Once a bellydancer, always a bellydancer? (in Tribal Bellydance) Well, this could be a long gushy post, but I'll try to keep it short and concise.

I haven't been on these boards in a long long time, and I have not bellydanced in a similarly long time (well over a year). I thought I was done with it. Performi... read more
