I love Amanda. She is one of my "kids", one of my "4 Maids of the Apocalypse - War" and just a wonderful human being. She rocks!

She was a coal miner's daughter... wait, that's wrong. A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... NO NO NO, that's not it either! You would think talking about a dear friend would be easy. You know, like how they have this great sense of humor that is wry, dry, and so witty that it can bring tears to your eyes with laughter. Or maybe how beautiful a soul they have. Or maybe even how great a mom they are, but they are more then just somone's mom, someone's woman, someone's friend. How they are the kind of person who won't be there to bail you out-- they'll be right beside you, talking about how much fun we had together. She's Amanda. She is a woman to be reckoned with. I am honored to know her, and look forward to corrupting her wonderful brood and showing them that history is fun, and that grownups do care, and don't have to be related to love them... and corrupting them.... I would give you a life history, but due to my line of work; I can't. A few things that are common knowledge: I am a California native, and a 4th generation Navy Brat. I served 4 years, 8 months in the US Navy as the only female in an all male shop. Don't get me wrong: They were the greatest bunch of guys a girl could serve with. They were my "brothers", and I wouldn't have traded all those sea stories with anyone else! They treated me as an equal in work, and as a "sister" at play. Ah the good times... I would reenlist in a heartbeat, but... I can't. I am a practicing Pagan, and am raising my children as Pagans. My sometimes unfortunate "gift" is to be bluntly honest, and I'm a pretty good judge of character (with a couple of exceptions... :( ). So in the meantime I've become involved with an awesome, if not somewhat dysfunctional, guild at faire and I'm having fun being ME for awhile!

I took my first Mother's Day off from faire this year. Well, the first Mother's Day since I started playing at faire in 1992. It's the first time in 3 years all my kids were together for Mother's Day, and I was NOT disappointed. I was awoken with breakfast in bed (scrambled eggs & french toast) made by my 10 & 11 year olds.
