We made it all the way around the sun again! (blog entry) I am feeling honored to have the chance to once again, 4 years in a row, make my way to BRC and be a citizen of the grooviest place on planet earth! You people make this amazing newly rebirthed world possible, and I thank YOU!

A pleasant turn of events... (blog entry) Hey!

When last year’s burn ended, I said. That’s it. I’m done for a while. I need a break. It had been three years in a row, three years total. I figured, yeah, three and out. Three’s a magic number and all that. Three legs to stand a table, t... read more

This year, for the first time, I have joined the official Burningman volunteer crew. I will be at the Airport as an Interceptor, and doing a shift or two at Center Camp. I can't believe it's taken me 4 years to sign up. The greatness of burning man is you get back wh... read more

Hey!

When last year’s burn ended, I said. That’s it. I’m done for a while. I need a break. It had been three years in a row, three years total. I figured, yeah, three and out. Three’s a magic number and all that. Three legs to stand a table, three stooges, and of course, three finger’s on Homer Simpson’s hand…You understand?

But then I got a suggestion the other day from a guy at BM HQ who said, "You ought to apply for a scholarship ticket." So I did, and then a few days later, HQ said... read more

I have gone to such parties before and have had fun, but part of me always feels something amiss. I guess it's my ridiculous attempt to recreate what was out on the Playa at an isolated party in the City. Yes, it's all in my head, but where the hell else is reality anyway???
How does one just enjoy the moment at such affairs without the wistful longing for hoppi... read more

I just wanna share a great burning man moment with yah all. It was a hot afternoon, Friday, I believe. I took a much needed shower. As I toweld off, I thought, "Time for my naked walk." So, I slipped on my flip-flops and headed out across Hope, out into the walk-in camping area. Before was only playa and a few scattered tents.

I told myself, "Close your eyes and take 100 steps without a peak. This will test your courage."

You would be surprised how nerve-wracking this exercise can be.... read more

I have waited 2 weeks to begin to reflect upon the twist and turn of this year's burn.

Initially, I described my feelings as “burned out.” I said to myself, I need a year off. It wasn’t that I had a bad time. I had a very solid, good time. I just feel I have completed a certain Burning Man cycle after three years in a row. I have much to chew on. I also have to start my teaching job the same week as Burning Man week, and it’s so hard to get your head into your classroom and school, and B... read more
