about me
My novel, THE BELLY DANCER, will be released by Berkley/Penguin in summer 2009. It imagines a new identity for the legendary dancer Little Egypt, who is believed to have danced at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. For the latest news and planned events, visit my Web site at www.deannacameron.com.
I also keep a writing/publishing blog at deannacameron.blogspot.com, and recently started scribblinggypsy.blogspot.com, which focuses on news, reviews and updates on the Orange County, Calif., belly dance scene.

Who makes those awesome tapestry coats?
(in Gothla)
I think the vendor was at Gothla this year, but I can't for the life of me find the name... They're usually at Cairo Carnival (or Caravan or whatever), too.
Any one know who I'm talking about? Any help would be much appreciated... Thx... discussion post on Fri, October 30, 2009 - 11:06 AM
The novel is set to be published late summer 2009.

Shake up your usual weekend routine at the GYPSY GROOVE BELLY DANCE SHOWCASE, debuting Saturday, September 6, at House of Grind coffeehouse in Foothill Ranch, just off the 241 Toll Road.
The lineup of featured dancers will include acclaimed belly dancers Marlena Shaw and Enala of Westminster, as well as Winnie Rafael of Irvine, dancing in the traditional Egyptian cabaret style; Katerina of Long Beach will perform her brand of edgy tribal-style fusion. The evening also will include the musical talents of Middle Eastern percussionist Ed Lee and friends, as well as a free mini-lesson in belly dancing for beginners. The show is free and open to the public, and parking is plentiful. House of Grind is at 26612 Towne Center Drive, Foothill Ranch, next to the Regal theaters. For more information on the venue, call the House of Grind at (949) 837-6637. For more information on the showcase, e-mail DeAnna Cameron of Scribbling Gypsy Productions at ScribblingGypsy@gmail.com.
