From the moment I met Renee, I immediately felt like she put her wings around me. I've gotten the pleasure of dancing with her in class (and random places like The Fez) and I don't know what it is but when I dance with her, it is like magic. I am still struggling with feeling confident enough to comfortably dance with the amazing ladies in Seattle, but something about Renee's energy helps me through it. She dances with such calm confidence that it soothes my racing mind. She is such a graceful and joyful dancer that she can move you with it. She's absolutely moved me!

Renee is like grace personified. A beautiful dancer to watch, for sure. So much talent all wrapped up in one person really is hard to believe, eh? But there you have it. She absofrigginlutely rocks, as a dancer and a friend. She's one of the funniest, smartest, coolest chicks I've ever known, and I love that I get to call her "troupie" too! So from one Gemini diva to another....I love ya, sista! ;)

What can I say about Renee? Anyone who knows us knows that in so many ways we are fire and ice, and somehow together we make one amazing pool of water for a hot tub! I remember when we first met, it felt like we were always butting heads--our ideas about where we wanted to go in life and in dance were so different. But over time, we have grown closer in our dance and in our friendship, and I am proud to count her among my best friends of my life. Her intelligence, humor, and integrity are always beautiful flourishes to our friendship. With whom else can I exchange snippy words in frustration one minute, and be laughing until tears flow the next? To be so different, but have the same goal in mind makes us an unstoppable duo. I truly would not be the person or dancer I am today without the years of friendship I share with Renee. She helps me see the world with new eyes...and poke sarcastic fun at it sometimes. My co-director, my dance sister, my best friend. Love you, man!

To reciprocate (or should that be retaliate *wink*). Where to start? Renee...was one of the coolest people in my freshman Berkeley dorm (way back in '88), is sharp and witty, dances with total spirit and confidence, hosts great parties, and is a good friend. I feel very fortunate we are in the same circle after all these years. Love and respect...

Renee dances like she has been doing it for centuries. Such queenly posture and a powerful air she has about her. I get lost in her dance as a watch her. She is also an extremly intelligent woman, and always helps others when they need it. I really look up to you Renee as a teacher, friend, and sister!!

I did it.

This week I took Suhaila's Level III weeklong including the certification test. The way it happens in Level III, because there is so much material to be covered, is you get tested throughout the week. This choreography this day, these drills on that day, etc. I was most afraid of not passing the Finger Cymbal Drum solo but got that out of the way on Tuesday which gave me a big boost, which is good because before that I had several moments of serious doubt. inFusion at MedFest!

For those of you who may have missed us at FolkLife, or just missed
FolkLife altogether, inFusion will be reprising our collaboration with
our friends Gypsy Fire at the Mediterranean Fantasy Festival! It was

The Choreography Collective Rocked!

Last week was awesome! Twelve (is that right?) of us attended the first ever Choreography Collective at Suhaila's new studio (love the new/old space!) We got Suhaila drills in the morning and choreographies from the guest instructors in the afternoon. Rachel George started us off with a killer drum solo to "Sahra Saidi" on Monday. Costa Rica anyone?

We're thinking of going there for our anniversary at the end of November. We're looking for good beaches with scuba/snorkeling and surfing, as well as rainforest accessibility for a canopy/zipline tour. We like good restaurants, but aren't interested in casinos or nightclubs, and we'd prefer a hotel to a condo rental. If you've been, chime in with where you went and what you did and what we should consider (and avoid)!
