<div>Ok...this is too close for comfort...I LIVE on the Catawba River!!!
-----------------------------------------------
N.C. fisherman reels in a piranha

Tue Jul 3, 7:11 PM ET

A fisherman looking to catch a catfish for dinner instead reeled in a fish that flashed its teeth and bit his knife. Jerry Melton, 46, was fishing in the Catawba River last week when he caught what state wildlife officials later identified as a piranha, a South American carnivorous fish that lives in freshwater.

"When I got it on the bank I didn't really know what it was; I hadn't seen anything like it before," Melton said.

When Melton opened the fish's mouth with a pocketknife, he said the fish bit down and left an impression on the blade.

Wildlife officials told Melton on Saturday that he caught a 1 pound, 4 ounce piranha that was probably dumped in the river. Melton was fishing in Mount Holly, a town northwest of Charlotte.

The catch highlights the growing problem of people keeping exotic animals and fish as pets and later dumping them into local waters, said Paul Barrington, an ichthyologist with the Fort Fisher Aquarium. Earlier this year, another fisherman caught a snakehead fish — also a nonnative fish — in Lake Wylie near Charlotte.

"Releasing nonnative fish in our native waters is highly irresponsible because it could have a very adverse affect on the fish in that ecosystem," Barrington said. "Piranha and the snakehead fish have no predators in our waters."

Jacob Rash, a North Carolina Wildlife Resources biologist, said he believes the piranha was the first caught in the Catawba River and possibly the first in the region.

Melton, who is keeping the piranha in his freezer until he can have it mounted, said the experience will keep him out of the river's water.

"I've been fishing there my whole life," he said. "Catching something like that is definitely going to make me think twice about what's in that water."</div>

<div> Egyptologists think they have Hatshepsut's mummy

By Jonathan WrightMon Jun 25, 1:06 PM ET

Egyptologists think they have identified with certainty the mummy of Hatshepsut, the most famous queen to rule ancient Egypt, found in a humble tomb in the Valley of the Kings, an archaeologist said on Monday.

Egypt's chief archaeologist, Zahi Hawass, will hold a news conference in Cairo on Wednesday. The Discovery Channel said he would announce what it called the most important find in the Valley of the Kings since the discovery of King Tutankhamun.

The archaeologist, who asked not to be named, said the candidate for identification as the mummy of Hatshepsut was one of two females found in 1903 in a small tomb believed to be that of Hatshepsut's wet-nurse, Sitre In.

Several Egyptologists have speculated over the years that one of the mummies was that of the queen, who ruled from between 1503 and 1482 BC -- at the height of ancient Egypt's power.

The archaeologist said Hawass would present new evidence for an identification but that not all Egyptologists are convinced he will be able to prove his case.

"It's based on teeth and body parts ... It's an interesting piece of scientific deduction which might point to the truth," the archaeologist said.

Egyptologist Elizabeth Thomas speculated many years ago that one of the mummies was Hatshepsut's because the positioning of the right arm over the woman's chest suggested royalty.

Her mummy may have been hidden in the tomb for safekeeping after her death because her stepson and successor, Tuthmosis III, tried to obliterate her memory.

Donald Ryan, an Egyptologist who rediscovered the tomb in 1989, said on an Internet discussion board this month that there were many possibilities for the identities of the two female mummies found in the tomb, known as KV 60.

"Zahi Hawass recently has taken some major steps to address these questions. Both of the KV 60 mummies are in Cairo now and are being examined in various clever ways that very well might shed light on these questions," he added.

In an undated article on his Web site, Hawass cast doubt on the theory that the KV-60 mummy with the folded right arm was that of Hatshepsut.

"I do not believe this mummy is Hatshepsut. She has a very large, fat body with huge pendulous breasts, and the position of her arm is not convincing evidence of royalty," he wrote.

He was more optimistic about the mummy found in the wet-nurse's coffin and traditionally identified as the nurse's. That mummy is stored away in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

"The body of the mummy now in KV 60 with its huge breasts may be the wet-nurse, the original occupant of the coffin ... The mummy on the third floor at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo could be the mummy of Hatshepsut," Hawass wrote.

<div>'Tis pouring rain outside. The sound of thunder makes me wish for a power outage at work that will send me home! Otherwise I will surely fall asleep right here in my chair!

My weekend went by too fast. I did go watch Shrek the Third, which was enough to at least make me smile! I would recommend it to anyone, especially an adult who is in need of a good laugh!

I've gotten quite a bit done today although I am not motivated in the least. I would have rather stayed home in bed, dreaming the sweetest of dreams about My Queen. Hell, I would have preferred to just have Her sleeping beside Me instead of the tease of Her dream. :o)

Two hours and counting... I am ready to depart this prison!

    </a>
<div>Satanism has many names and faces today. For those seeking to know more about Satanism, there is a wealth of information floating around that leaves most beginners confused. Just as the Christian religion has many different denominations, so does Satanism. And, like Christianity, each Satanic group vows to be &amp;lt;i>the&amp;lt;/i> authority on Satanism.

Personally, I adhere to the works of Anton LaVey. This does not, however, mean that I am associated with the Church of Satan, which was founded by LaVey. I find that most churches, grottos, or groups tend to be detrimental for the true student of Satanism. The focus turns from the philosophy and practice of Satanism to the group itself.

Within most groups there are underlying dramas being played out by members who I like to refer to as "control freaks". Not all members apply though. There are those who pay their join fees and then find themselves disappointed by the childish behaviors of members held in high esteem by the group.

To me, this kind of behavior is what gives Satanism a bad name as well as turns those sincerely interested in Satanism away.

I recently created a community, Satanism Unplugged (http://SatanismUnplugged.ning.com), for anyone interested in learning more about Satanism through the works of Anton LaVey. This community will be a learning center for beginners and a place to meet other Satanists with the same interests.

If you're interested in being a part of Satanism Unplugged, please click on the link above. If you have questions, please message me and I will be happy to answer anything I can.

The name Satanism Unplugged means that what you will get in the community are legitimate topics pertaining to Satanism and not childish drama.
