Big Loser Hooping

Its been a while since my first post, and I'm coming on with a new energy. I had quite the rough one last week with a series of unfortunate happenings, flat tire and a chemical burn to the eye and face (no damage sustained). I then found out I need glasses :(
Alas, This week is going better and I am starting an experiment of sorts. My school district has organized a "Biggest Loser" competition, contestants have put in $5 each and the pot is up for grabs to be won by the contestant who loses the greatest body weight percentage. I have recently become "overweight", 5'7" and 169 pounds. A nine pound loss would put me at the high end of healthy.
I decided I'm going to try using hooping as my primary aerobic activity for a minimum of the six week loser program. Hopefully with a proper diet and hoopdance exercise I can shed a few pounds. I intend to blog about this journey on a weekly basis to track my progress. I started on Saturday and can already see an improvement in my hoop skills if nothing else. My plan is to hoop for a minimum of 5 days a week and 30 minute sessions, two strength training workouts per week, and monitor my diet (most likely the biggest of my problems).
Enough for now, I'll report back Friday or Saturday to note any progress.

Whew, my first blog entry here goes. I've just come upon my first year anniversary of hooping and have learned so much. In the last several months, however, I hit a hooping rut. I just didn't see hooping as a priority anymore. This weekend I went to the Big Summer Classic festival in the ozarks of Missouri (actually quite near my hometown). I cannot even begin to describe the feeling I got from hooping to live music. I have always hooped in short spurts at home, but I really got into a groove hooping to String Cheese this weekend. I also attended my first hoop workshop. Up until this point I have never had a formal lesson or more experienced hooper to teach me in person (thank you, High Volume Hoopers). I feel so refreshed despite the 100 degree heat. Heres to year two in my hooping relationship!
