what I'm reading

I just finished reading _The Golden Notebook_ by Doris Lessing. I really liked it, but am not sure if I expect other people to like it, so I haven't recommended it to anybody. A year ago or so I read the Shikasta series by Doris Lessing, which are sci fi / fantasy. This one is realistic, about an author who is a feminist, socially aware mother. The thing I like about all of Doris Lessing's books I've read is an awareness of humanity. She seems to be aware of what is going on with people in subtle and deep ways, and her characters seem not just like real people, but like interesting, self reflective, complicated people.

Now I'm reading _The Time Traveller's Wife_ by Audrey Niffenegger. I just started it, but it has definitely captured my interest.

Panade, from Orangette (http://orangette.blogspot.com/2005/10/sog-story.html ). Of course, I used a little less olive oil, and vegie stock instead of chicken stock, and a little less water.
