The Health-Food Diner (vegetarians be warned) (blog entry) About a year or so ago, Daniel and I had the unique pleasure of seeing Maya Angelou in person. She ended her talk with this poem, written years ago when she wanted to go out for a steak and could only find a health food diner.

Ah, I can post for the first time in quite a while. I have lots of things churning around in my mind at the moment but the thought most in the forefront is my job outlook. As many of you know, I was laid off back in September and Devin's birth put off the job search for some time.Tue, February 5, 2008 - 3:37 PM permalink - 4 comments
Now I am out looking again, but not really. Somehow cubicle surfing just doesn't hold the same glamorous allure it once did. I find myself surprisingly enamored with the idea of being a mostly stay-at-home mom. I... read more

No sprouted wheat and soya shoots
And Brussels in a cake,
Carrot straw and spinach raw,
(Today, I need a steak).
Not thick brown rice and rice pilaw
Or mushrooms creamed on toast,
Turnips mashed and parsnips hashed,
(I'm dreaming of a roast).

10 things I loved and will miss about Grandma ZMon, May 21, 2007 - 2:25 PM permalink - 7 comments
(not even close to a complete list)
1. Wearing her shoes when I was little girl.
2. Growing up and having her wear my shoes, her feet looking as tiny as mine did in hers all those years ago
3. Scrambled eggs from a cast iron pan seasoned with 35 plus years of "grandma love"
4. Getting that same cast iron pan as a gift three years ago.
5. She bought every box of Girl Scout cookies I ever sold and gave them to everyone else to eat
6. Her... read more

Panera has a clause in its lease that prevents the White City Shopping Center in Shrewsbury from renting to another sandwich shop. Panera tried to invoke that clause to stop the opening of an Qdoba Mexican Grill.

December 28, 2006Jen is a wonderful woman. She's smart, talented, funny, beautiful and kind. She's one of those people you adore the first time you meet her!
November 11, 2006OK, I may be biased because I am Jen's mom.
That little fact notwithstanding, Jen is simply one of the most fun, most loving, most creative, most interesting and most delightful people I have ever had the pleasure to know.
But I'm not prejudiced. Really. No more than anyone else here who loves her. And, how can you not?
