Burning Man this year?

Hello Tribe.net, so sorry to have abandond you for so long!

I am looking for a ticket to Burning Man 2009.

Thus far I have been lucky enough to find some at this late of date for less than $300, but I am really really hoping for one under $200. This will really be the deciding factor of whether or not I go this year. I really don't want to miss a year of my beloved Burn, but SO many negative obstacles have been aimed toward or around me this year that I've been too emotionally exhausted to even think about my annual desert trek until now, and it is less than 3 weeks away from the event, so...

I know that they are out there, I just need to find them!

So I am appealing to you, carousers of tribe.net blogs and hoping that you will let me know if you have anything, or if you know anyone who has anything.

I will try to log in here more frequently, but my internet access is sporadic, so you can email me: liberatemymadnessdc@yahoo.com, which I am more likely to check daily.

Thanks, and good looking out!

A few days ago while I was at work I was thinking about all the Japanese and Korean movies that get re-made and turned into 'American Cinema.' I personally am a fan of Japanese horror movies and so I take an interest usually in the Japanese film version and then pay attention to the one that the US cranks out as well.

I think the differences in the different versions are more interesting that the similarities of course, and I've noticed that a lot of times the main focus of Japanes or Korean features is suspense, while Americanized versions is big boobs. No seriously, go watch 'One Missed Call' or 'The Ring' in Japanese, then watch the American ones, you'll see too.

I was thinking of this very interesting Korean movie I saw about 5 years ago and even though there were definite holes in the plot it has always been one of those movies that stuck with me because there are really creepy parts and also a revelatory ending. This particular movie was called 'A tale of Two Sisters.' I was thinking about how interesting it would be to see an Americanized version of this movie and decided that if I ever become a movie maker, I'll have to re-make this video, a la big boobed blondes.

That very day, probably within an hour of having these thoughts I was logging into myspace and came across an ad for a new movie that started this weekend called 'The Uninvited.' I read the synopsis and what the holy flying fuck!?! It's totally the 'Tale of two Sisters!!!' And of course, the girls in the American version are older and have bigger boobs!

I should have guessed when I saw that it was from the creators of 'Th Ring' and 'Disturbia' because both of those were re-makes.

Golly, funny coincidence I suppose, just thought I'd share...

In another failed attempt to off himself my ex-bf beckoned me to spend tonight in the most elite psych ward Northern Cali has to offer, so that I could sit in the waiting room and worry.

I just got home to find a dead caca-roach in my bed.

It also appears that one of my froggies jumped his water bowl, shriveled up, and died sometime tonight as well.

...And I also just found out that my hero, Bettie Page, just died from complictions due to a heart attack she suffered earlier this week.

I'm sad, but I won't get high. I won't be sleeping tonight either...

I took my last final tonight! I will be joining the commencement ceremony for UCD graduation on Saturday the 14th at 2pm!

I'm pretty excited! I now have a higher education than pretty much everyone I've ever dated... Hhhhmmmmmm, let me gloat in that a little while...

As an after graduation tryst I wanted to go with my S.O. to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, but it's so expensive to get there! A one way trip on the Amtrak is more than the price of Admission to the aquarium! Then there'd be the ride home, food, and board and all that other stuff to contend with too.

So I think we're just going to go to Cache Creek or something Sunday. We'll see. It wouldn't be a Univ. graduation without the broke ass college students to go along with it!

I came home and he had shed in one great big long piece and I measured his skin... It was exactly 60 inches! I think this may be a birthday? I don't really know too much about his history pre- the last 3 months, but I think that means he's around 5 years old?

I've decided that I'm staying in Davis until my sister has her baby, so at least until after Halloween, through the rest of this year probably. I need to move out of this place sometime in July.

So the pet store downtown was stupidly out of frozen mice, but Goliath hadn't eaten in over a week, so I had to ride my bike across town to the Petco and it was 88 degrees today so yea, I was wearing a pretty skimpy outfit.

When I was riding back home a random car full of 4 sloppy looking boys came up behind me and honked and made me jump and almost fall off my bike, which to them was the funniest thing ever. Then they sped off, but then they stopped at a stop light, and I caught up to them on my bike, and was crossing the street in front of them and I looked at them and they were all busting up and they all waved and I smiled back and flipped them off and said, "you guys are ASSHOLES" which made them laugh harder, so I rode on a few feet, then turned back and they were still busting all their chubby guts, cause it's funny to be an asshole I guess, and I screamed, "and you're all fucking UGLY!" And they all shut the fuck up when I said that and were like, "der....."

I guess I reminded them why they never get laid and have to depend on harassing bicyclists for kicks...

I realize that giving them a reaction at all was probably just fueling the fire, but I was so pissed off that I was actually wishing I had a tire slicing device.... :(

In the month of January I....

Saw my favorite band play a live set that lasted over 2 hours.

Filed for graduation from UCD.

Fell in Love with a man BEFORE I realized he was stinking bloody rich and drove a $30,000 car (therefore I wasn’t selling out, I was buying in).

Was Immortalized as a cartoon character. (Not the picture shown!)

Brought my number of body piercings from 3 to 5.

Got to know long lost family members I only barely knew existed.

Was graced with the presence of new music from the band I love just as much as my own family.

Was given a good spanking.

Made it to a party or concert in the city every single weekend.

Toured a few grad schools.

Blew an unsuspecting audience outside a Starbucks fire kisses, and showed them some tongue transfers just for good measure ;)

Went Skinny dipping in the rain.

And dubbed Mojo a Rodent of Unusual Size.

February has no choice but to get better.

Do you know what day it is?

It's new music Tuesday.... Not any new music Tuesday THE tuesday I've been waiting for, for over a year!

It should be international Mars Volta Tuesday... iViva La Volta!

The Donnas Last Friday from a listing on Tribe.net

I had plans to see Gabriel Iglesias (who ever that is) on Friday with Konrad and a few of his friends, but on Thursday we both got notified that Iglesias had cancelled because he has strep throat. Konrad said, "Awww, now what are we gonna do with our Friday Night?!" Then he fell asleep.

That's when the nifty little calender to the left of my tribe activity listings came in handy! There were 137 listings for Friday night alone! I didn't actually realize that's what that calender was for... I thought it was there to keep track of our own shit... But no!

So Friday morning when K-RAD woke up, I had a whole list of things that we could do, including some random play in Tracy (wherever that is) called "The Trailer Park Musical." I totally played up a show the Donnas were playing in the city at 1015 Folsom because it's been years since I've seen them, and they are still favorites of mine! Hee, I love those girls!

Everytime I've seen the Donnas they are better than they were the last time, and apparently that was the first Rock Show at 1015 Folsom in 20 years. Brett said in between two of their songs they were gonna "shake the techno out these rafters" I thought she was pretty cute.

Oh, and I don't know if anyone out there was familiar with Tsunami Bomb, they broke up in 2005, but Agent M, former front woman of the band, was totally the lead singer of the band that was opening that night. A band called The Action Design. I'm going to look them up. I saw them last summer at the Warped Tour too, they are awesome!

Anyway, the Donnas rock, they always have and always will. And damn their guitar player is HOT HOT HOT!

Thus began another fun weekend in the city... With all the commuting we do out there on Fridays and Saturdays I think we should just find a wherehouse somewhere and squat...

A Blueberry Scone in the Storm -kinda day with revelations...

It was not until my mid-twenties that I learned of my intense passion for blueberries. Blueberries, which are unfortunately not the prettiest fruit in the berry family, were discarded by me because of their prune-like faces until I reached the age of 25 and I discovered that anything blueberry-scented or blueberry-flavored was not only fun to indulge in, but often also very intoxicating. And yummy! I’ve come to relish the fine blue berry flavor even more than cherry and watermelon flavors, especially since blueberry leaves a telltale rebel yell of having been somewhere, like on the tongue or lips after someone has tasted it.

So, as I sat by a window munching on a sensationally decadent, moist, and vegan-friendly blueberry scone the other day; cuddling with a hottie, and a sweet black and white kitten that dozed like a little furry kidney bean in my lap, and waited for that damn storm to be over; I pondered the New Year. Then I realized something: I completely completed my New Year’s resolution from last year…Without even knowing it!

I personally don’t make New Year’s resolutions ever year. I don’t think that it is necessary to wait until the New Year to resolve to do or change something. Last year I figured I’d throw in the towel and have some kind of resolution though… Just to get into the spirit of the “New Year, New Beginnings” thing. After all, last New Year there were a lot of things changing in my life… So anyway, I resolved last year, half-heartedly to do no drugs for the entire year. No nothing. Nothing herbal, psychedelic, opiate, pharmaceutical of any kind… And guess what! I didn’t! Not even this year at Burning Man, man! I was given drugs this year at Burning Man, and offered drugs on various other occasions during the year, but they are still at home, safe in my apt, waiting… For something… I guess to be had by someone!

Not that I was ever a big drug user, but it was becoming a bit more frequent, which is why I decided to even make the resolution… So there you have it. Way better than the average “lose ten pounds” or “find true love” or something like that… Better for me anyway, and I don’t even feel the need to break this streak. I can be straight edge a little bit longer I think. I barely even had anything to drink this year except for a few times, and smoking cigaros was sparse too.

Did anyone else complete their New Year’s resolutions from 2007?

As you all know, I'm obsessed with the Mars Volta and have been for years. I've seen them live 3 times already and I'm about to see them for the 4th time live on NYE at their kick ass NYE show at the Civic Center called, "The Bedlam in San Francisco" to support their January release, "The Bedlam in Goliath."

Well, people keep getting added to the line up and it turns out that it's going to be a 7 hour show!!! I am going with my friend Jenny Rogers who is the only person, beside my sister, who can outdance me at an all night show like this one!

I have a friend who bought an extra ticket for someone who flaked on him and so he needs to sell it... If anyone wants to go, let me know and I'll give you his contact info.

Some popular DJ I've never heard of named Peanut Butter Wolf is going to be there, and both him and the Mars Volta are playing two sets!

The opening acts start at 9pm, with the Volta taking the stage from 10:30-11 for an acoustic set, then Pnut Butter Wolf is going to play an hour long video set with videos chosen (and most likely directed by) Omar of the mars Volta. Then at 11:30 the Volta will play a 2 and a 1/2 hour electric set, then at 2am, this Pnut Butter Wolf character will be back on for a full length set!

Anyone interested can go here for the complete lineup and info about the art display, liquid light display, and show:
http://blogs.sfweekly.com/shookdown/2007/12/mars_volta_new_years_schedule.php

If that link doesn't work you can go to sfweekly.com and read the article.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy healthy NY and if you know someone who wants the ticket, let me know!!!

I was just eating dinner at a restaurant in Davis, when I was done I got the bill and the waitor had written, "Dinner's on me. Have a great night!" I went to find the guy and thank him, and he said that he also has a job at the Co-Op, in the meat dept, but I never go there, then he realized tonight when I ordered that I'm obviously never in the market for meat. I thought it was funny. Kinda awkward.

The day before yesterday I found out it's going to cost $1100 to register my car this year! And it'll have to pass smog on top of that!

When I worked at Borders they had a 2 hour parking limit in their parking lot, so if I parked there I had to go play musical parking spaces with all the other employees every 2 hours... Unfortunately, sometimes I wasn't able to get away from work every two hours, or even every 4 hours, so I'd get ticketted, sometimes more than once or twice in an 8 hour day. So I had 11 parking tickets tagged on to my registration this year.

My registration is due every February, I should have done a non-op this year since it's hasn't left the driveway at my paren't house or moved an inch since February, but it wasn't supposed to be like that. I'd only planned on it being there for a month tops... You know how those things go.

Well, I'm gonna have to pay those sooner or later anyway, and I just got a remainder check from UCD last week, and I also really really miss my car! My car rocks!!!! How many people do you know who drive a 1978 Pontiac Phoenix? Seriously? And the first time she ever had to be test only smogged, she passed all on her own the very first time!

Getting my car back into operation mode does not mean forsakeing my bike either. I love riding my bike, I think bike riding is fun, but now that it gets so dark early I'd feel safer when I go places at night if I were driving rather than riding. also, I've been spending a lot of money going back and forth on Amtrack, but the Pontiac is a great cruiser when it comes to road trips. I'd possibly be saving money (slightly) if I paid for gas rather than train tickets for my weekend trysts to the City. I'd definitely be saving myself time.

I think I'll have her maintenanced at Black Rock Auto in Sac (thanks Skirdizzle) to see if there are any long term boo boos caused by her lengthy involvement with going nowhere in the last 9 months, then make my decision after their final word...

We shall see, we shall see.

I could have sworn the new Volta album was supposed to come out today and I had it marked on my calender, but NONE of the record stores (that's all 2 of them) in my town even have a release date for Bedlam in Goliath! Wha?...... Why? Where did I get my misinformation, and why is it wrong? It was what was helping me pluck through the month.... :(

I think this'll be he fourth time they've pushed back the release date, but neither of the stores can give me a release date at all!

I mean, I'm a great fan, I bought tickets for me and my friend to the NYE costume party they are playing for the SECOND they went on PREsale, I knew the password, had the screen all filled out, clicked the button at exactly 10am, and had the purchase complete by 10:01! I deserve new music

If there are and Mars Volta fans out there who know what the fuck is up.... Help a sista out!
