about me
Nomad, Explorer, Adventurer, Wanderer.... you get the picture. These days you are more likely to cross paths with me at a trail head, bike path or local coffee shop than a club or large social event. I don’t necessarily shy away from large social scenes its just I find as I get older I need them less and less. My passions tend to lie in the outdoors, hiking, biking, photography, good company on the trail and around a fire. I have definitely not always ended up where I intended to go in this life, however I have ended up in some pretty cool places and quite often, unknowingly, right where I needed to be. Unlike so many people today I would rather not be defined by what I do for a living, however my occupations over the years have led to many of my greatest adventures. 15 years in the Alaskan commercial fishing industry would be a good example, recently living and working in Reno has introduced me to Tahoe, Yosemite, The Sierra- all the splendor of that region and has fueled the desire to see more. I now find myself back in Alaska mainly for work and family but I anticipate the frequent flyer milage growing rapidly over the next few years.

The apartment is almost all stuffed back into a storage unit, just the basics remain. I wont be residing back in Alaska until summer, yep you will all have to go through spring break up without me this year.

With the new work schedule I'm fortunate to have several weeks off in a row and with that I'm headed south down the coast, camping, hiking and biking all along the way. I have reservations at a rock climbing festival in Red Rocks next weekend but other than that the schedule is pretty w... read more

The dam thing has been a rolling problem, not to mention a lot of fix-it tickets had I ever got stopped, since the day it became mine. It saved my ass from from walking 17 miles to work in the middle of winter when my chevy died. The heater barely worked, the stereo didn’t. There was a hole in the floor I could flinstone through that Lee and I eventually filled with spray foam from Home Depot. Half the lights didn’t work. It would run forever on $10. There w... read more With all the commotion going on in the world today it may seem as though most of the general public has forgotten, after all it has been 19 years. Dare I say that a lot of people now are too young to even remember it. But for one rural Alaskan community and the people there that I have come to love over the years the reminders are present everyday- * quotes from MSNBC story 2-25-08 * CORDOVA, Alaska - For many in this coastal town, it is known simply as the Oil Spill, an event so cru... read more
Ok, I may be a little slow but I did just go and watch ‘Into the Wild’, the Christopher McCandless story. The movie itself was very well done, hats off to Sean Penn. But I am kind of torn on this one and have conflicting opinions about the story itself as I guess a lot of people are. I have read a couple articles about the film since its release, whats fact vs fiction or speculation and yes Hollywood does spice it up quite a bit but the overall story line is true.
