I've read Dani for years and what comes out of her is the truth about herself and life. She's less brash than she used to be. Then her mighty brilliance gleamed and struck like lightning causing caustic exercises in defensiveness by her victims; she was insightful and sharp, wicked in her grasp of the issues and quick with her damnation of anything that wasn't honest. Today, she is a seasoned woman having crossed over to someone who allows herself to be a catalyst for love. She sticks her neck out to only have it lopped off by the immature, but as the immature are cutting her down, they feel the wincing pain of their own souls. She is softer now, able to let others walk over her to the fields of tenderness and fellowship. She is a teacher. She will not lie to you. I trust her deeply; I relish the honor of knowing her in this space and time. I will be there for her knowing her heart is pure.

OK. I am not alone. I've known Dani here for years and I can tell you that she is honest with herself and with everyone else and who cares if she has bad days or lives in a Glass House because she's got a great view. Dani is hands down a winner. I would bow before her feet.

I really admire Dani for the thoughtfulness of her blog writings and thread posts. She has a keen sense of the human condition. Her observations of others around her as well as herself are so detailed and dead on. Dani's words force you to think and to become more introspective. All of that coupled with her wonderful sense of humor makes her someone I am so very happy to have connected with on Tribe. xoxo

Makes me laugh.
I adore her.

Dani is smart, funny, warm, and genuine. She's not afraid to speak her mind which makes her A-OK in my book! :)

The hoodie is an amazing invention. Nothing else in the world conceals so many wonderful things.

Take the teenager, for example. The hoodie is perfect for the iPod during class. And perfect for keeping anyone from talking to or bothering you. Somehow a hoodie renders one acceptably mute.

The hoodie is instant camouflage when the police are chasing you. It can instantly transform you into the everyman. Magically, with a hoodie, you are the same size and build as every other citizen wea... read more

A recent post reminded me of a speech competition to which I took students this year. I insisted I stay in the room for all the presentations because I wanted to see what other students are doing for their coaches. I was told that was fine as long as I stayed and didn't disturb the process. There was talking and laughing among the high school contestants outside the door so loud, it was drowning out the kids inside and the judge is a mom, so I took it upon myself to help.

So between spea... read more

My mexican BFF says that Flour tortillas are purely an American invention. He is From Mexico city and he says they make only corn tortillas by hand every morning and wouldn't think of keeping any until the next day or especially freezing them (being the smartass I am, I think I responded with something like, 'do you even have freezers, or just barns with chunks of ice?' to which I'm sure he responded, "que?" to which I'm sure I responded..."oh nothing.") anyway, he won't touch flour tortillas... read more

Yes I am a lucky one, In fact I am suffering from a slight case of that thing soldiers get where they were like, "why me? Why did I ...not have to sweep soot?"

If you look at a map, my city, Santee, it is a white hole in the middle of a vast pink "evacuation" area warning map. In other words, the fire is everywhere but where I am.

We santeeans are sitting comfortable and guilty in our safe haven while 500K other san diegans are crowded into places like the 70K football stadium begging f... read more

Well this year I don't feel so bad about not having an "I went to burningman t-shirt." For some reason it held a low profile for the Tribe subject matter and I barely thought about burningman this year at all. I bet it thought even less of me. I don't hate it, but I certainly am glad I'm staying away from one of the people on here who launched a public campaine about how he's not going to so-and-so's camp after all because he might cross paths with Miss Thing and he's not going to make that m... read more
