A Blogosphere With A View

“I’ve had it with BGC (Black Gay Chat Live)!” I yelled at my computer, after checking my mail where a ‘brutha’ left me a message with “Sup?” as its only content. What does “sup?” mean? Of course, I know that it is an abbreviation for “What’s up?” But knowing that doesn’t make it any less frustrating. And then, upon reading several profiles from the sordid mixture of gay, bi-sexual, and Down-low brothers, I really became frustrated at the myriad of spelling errors, bad grammar and quite offens... read more

Sitting in a comfy chair
Staring out the doors
Admiring how the day’s so clear
Not engaged, nor bored

My hands relaxed unmoving
My feet sit slightly bent
No knots are present on my brow
A feeling of content

Tomorrow does not haunt me
No agenda for today
This peace that comes now freely
Has carried me away

The clock it is a-ticking
There’s so much left to do
But I no task completing
For they are not in view

My mind, you see, is absent
From the future and the past
I’m ... read more

Lately, I have been blogging a lot about the state of the economy, but more from a "spiritual" or "soul-searching" perspective. Paul Krugman, in today's New York Times, wrote an article entitled, "Misguided Money Mentalities" arguing about the misconceived notions that the Federal Bank is touting, i.e.: increase interest rates. He argues that the weakening of the U.S. dollar is actually a good thing because it gives us a global, economic advantage, in that, our products would be sold abroad a... read more

I see him standing there
And I want to touch his face
The wind tickling his dreadlocked hair
And I want to touch his face

His cell phone rings he snaps it open
Inaudible words exit his lips
Lips separating softly, revealing pearly white teeth
Does his lips say “come to me?” No.

He gesticulates with every word
And I want to touch his face
Shifts his weight; legs taking turns
Oh, just to touch his face

His bus finally arrives; he boards
The crowd swallowing him up

Everyone keeps railing on and on about the dire state of our economy. Some “experts” portend that it will begin to improve late this year; while others say things will get a lot worse before they get better. The fact of the matter is that people are, indeed, suffering. With that said, the state of the economy – as bad as it might be – has forced us to develop some great habits. It has become our new life teachers. Lesson one: consumption. In my apartment complex, for example, the dumpster is ... read more

What's Really Going on in Afghanistan? (in *Global Politics) I am totally confused on the case for Afghanistan, now. Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't the Bush administration mandate the armed forces to enter that country to search for Osama Bin Laden?

Now, the search for Bin Laden has been pushed to the sid... read more

Re: US taxes ate about 75% (in *Global Politics) Forrest: You hit the nail on the head with your final statement about wealth building and how wealth is currently concentrated. It seems to me that the members of the capitalist classes keep advocating for lower taxes because they'd rather have ch... read more
