about me
I first began practicing Tai Chi, Qigong, Yiquan and Wing Chun in 1989 with Sifu David Leung in Eugene, Oregon. From 1999 - 2001 I taught qigong at a public park in Eugene.
Since 1990 I have also been exploring & practicing energetic health promotion arts such as Reiki, Pranic Healing, Qigong & massage independently & with other health arts practitioners.
My attraction to these arts has been in part inspired by, and helpful for, a congential heart defect which resulted in my being born 3 months premature, and experiencing 4 open-heart surgeries to repair a congenital heart complication.
Qigong & related health promotion processes that I have learned & practice have contributed significantly to my resiliancy & health throughout the physical health challenges my body has encountered.

In 2002 I moved to the San Francisco Bay area in part to continue my Tai Chi, Qigong & Yiquan practice with Fong Ha in Berkeley, Ca., who I continue to learn from.
Sifu Fong Ha started his formal training in Tai Chi Chuan in 1953, first with Master Tung Ying-Chieh and after his death with Master Yang Sau-Chung , the eldest son of the legendary Yang Ching-fu. Fong Has' training in the Internal System of Martial Arts, Yiquan, was with Master Han Sing-Yuan, a disciple of Master Wang Hsin-Chai, the founder of Yiquan also known as Dachenquan.

I am a Certified Massage Practitioner skilled in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Thai Bodywork, Shiatsu, Chair massage, Reiki and Pranic Healing.

A clip about Gunther von Hagens' Body Worlds 3 exhibit. Sad there is so much controversy and witchhunting mentality about his wonderful work.
His honest approach & reverence for life and our bodies is, quite thankfully, not suffocated by underexamined prejudices or oversentimentality about what is simply a basic aspect of our transient existence here.

And many people are able to benefit from his work, as there can be a much richer learning from exposure to the real human body in these... read more

Why do we practice? - A question worth exploring.

And that sometimes has no concrete, completely rationally defined answer.

Why do we do whatever it is we do?
Because we feel like it.
We want to.
Maybe because we think we "should" do it based on societal, relational or underexamined self-talk?
Because we want what we have heard others have experienced? What we imagine we can experience through doing a certain thing? Because its feels like a natural way of expressing what ... read more
