my name is usually Ben, Benjamin, Benny Boy, etc... i live / caretake on 550 acres an hour N of SF for the last 10 yrs. it's beautiful, a little remote, but i guess the quiet is good for my painting & art. i have a few friends, & know some tribes.. born in columbus, ohio on the fourth of july - had kind of a wild childhood - saw about a hundred grateful dead shows from 12 to 17 (had a vw bus too :P) lived in portland, oregon for a few yrs after highschool & got heavily involved w/ hinduism, yoga, and eastern philosophy. originally moved to where i am now to live with an ashram (which i'm still semi connected with). i'm a contractor / carpenter, 9-5, and am happily (most of the time happily) self-employed in the napa area. i became disenchanted w/ the art market after art school (uc davis) & wanted to do some work that didn't seem so spoiled & privilaged (it's how i saw it at the time). now i work for the spoiled & privilaged (the ones that can afford to build these days (and i am exaggerating, or at least generalizing a bit)) but i like my work - although it's sometimes under appreciated - at least i'm not burning babies or think i'm too good to be working class. i'm not all that poor anyway, & still kinda privilaged, (maybe light blue collar) but it angers me that some ppl are so fucking wealthy, while others are starving. everyone could be (& should be) rich!

i'm an optimist - life is the greatest miracle of all & since the spirit (or whatever you call it) is smart enough to make all this complexity of the universe, dreams, emotions, etc... it can probably work out our difficulties also. sometimes life feels like a test to me & there are many magicks & mysteries..... i try to do my part

i like my friend counter at zero, please don't ask to be my 'friend' on this. if you want to hang out or actually be friends that might be cool. anyway, hope you enjoy my (virtual) self. if you're on the SF/bay scene perhaps we've met, perhaps not, drop me a line if you're feeling it ~ i'm busy, but will try to keep this thing at least semi-updated.
