You're Entitled to My Opinions

The excitement is growing. Musetta & I are three days away from take off on this year's big trip. She has already been to Colorado for two weeks, partly a working trip grading Advanced Placement World History exam essays for a week in Fort Collins, then visiting her folks in Gunnison. Now she'll get two weeks in parts hitherto unexplored (by her).

We'll be starting in the DC area, staying with her best friend from high school. I hope we'll get to travel down to Charlottesville and Monticel... read more

Obama Tilts toward Center, Irking Some Activists: www.greenchange.org/article.php

As of today, no, no, and no. Barack Obama has less than four months to convince me to cast a vote for him. He is currently heading in the wrong damn direction. His vote for a FISA bill that extends retroactive immunity to corporations who participating in illegal domestic surveillance breaks the proverbial camel's back.

Funny how the times change. For a while I was even willing to overlook O... read more

My schedule is my excuse, as usual. No matter how much I love urban cycling, especially in groups, and more especially when the weather is relatively sane, I will not be able to make a habit of hooking up with the Montrose Bike Gang on Wednesday nights at midnight. However, last night I made it to copy.com at Westheimer & Waugh for the Gang's weekly ride. I'm glad that I did. This for me was more fun than Critical Mass, and without the confrontational vibe that frequently pervades CM rides.

Matt Harding is a self-made cewebrity, a living breathing meme. He's a little bit Waldo, a little bit Carmen San Diego, a 21st century update of the 1970s Coke ad that wanted to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony. Whether he admits it or not, he has the secret to world peace: dancing.

I'm a reasonably hip Netizen, but I don't learn about every little viral video phenomenon as soon as it comes down the chute. Matt posted his first video of himsel... read more

Ever have one of those moments wherein you've known something for days, but then suddenly you realize it?—as if you didn't really know that you knew? Nearly two weeks ago, when I took a check for nearly $3,000 from State Farm and surrendered the title to my freshly totaled 1999 Voyager, that I was no longer in possession of a motor vehicle. It wasn't until yesterday that it really hit me: I am living in Houston, and I don't own a car.

I do have access to a vehicle: Musetta's 2002 MPV gets ... read more
