I'm part coyote, in the Native American sense, not asJoni Mitchell sang about<g>.

A friend Sheryl. that I met while living in Iowa, gave me a coyote skin one day years ago. Her husband at the time had trapped it by mistake, in a rabbit trap. Saddened she really wanted to honor the death of the animal so they skinned and preserved the hide from head & ears down to the full tail. I still have him in my bedroom.

Once workers fixing a hole in a former apartment ceiling noticed it strung up on the wall above my bed. When I walked in on them, later in the day, they sheepishly asked me if it was a DOG.... lol. They thought I'd skinned my pet and put him on my wall. ("Yeah, that's Sparky, he was a good ole hound, hey want to see my cat Puffball, she's hung up in the bathroom") Of course when I told them, no it was a coyote, one look of repulsion was replaced with another and no further questions came forth<g>.

Coyote was certainly there that day in spirit and continues to hound me and those I hang with. I've deepened my bond with him in the many years since. What flavor of animal energies come out in you?
