Call for Papers

Papers sought that engage different topics relating to current Pagan Studies with an eye to concepts of chaos and their effect (or lack of effect)on Pagan theories, theologies, cosmologies, ethics, literature, music, politics, art, etc. We are using Pagan in its most inclusive form, covering pagans, wiccans, witches and the numerous hybrids that have sprung up.

We are looking to expand the conversation on Pagan Studies and the ways it shapes our world.

On Saturday, Max Dashu will give a keynote address, “Te Kore Kore, Hun Dun, Aluna: Chaos
and the Restoration of Pagan Wisdom” based on her work with the Suppressed Histories Ar-
chives which she founded in 1970.

On Sunday, we are still negotiating with the speaker. Update coming soon.
On Saturday evening, we will have Full Moon ritual after the end of the conference day. Details
will be forthcoming.

Max Dashu is a scholar of global women's history and pagan philosophies. In 1970 she
founded the Suppressed Histories Archives, building an unparalleled collection of some 15,000
slides and 100 presentations. She has presented hundreds of visual talks at universities, Max
is known for her scholarship on ancient goddess iconography and female shamans. She has
also intensively researched European folk goddesses, priestesses, witches, and the witch
hunts. Her long-awaited book _Secret History of the Witches is a multi-volume work of which
excerpts are online at suppressedhistories.net. Max is a founding mother of the Goddess resur-
gence, a teacher of shamanic arts, and an artist well-known for her paintings of bold and spir-
ited women.


Constance Wise has been a Feminist Wiccan for over 30 years and has co-founded two
covens in the Denver area. Her book Hidden Circles in the Web: Feminist Wicca, Occult Knowl-
edge, and Process Thought, will be published by Rowman and Littlefield in Spring 2008. Dr.
Wise currently works the itinerate instructor circuit teaching courses in religious studies,
women’s studies, and ethics at the University of Colorado at Denver, the Metropolitan State
College of Denver, and the University of Northern Colorado. She has her doctorate in Religious
and Theological studies from the University of Denver/Iliff School of Theology joint Ph.D. pro-
gram.
