Would that I could put into the written word all that is Alex!
he is a gracious, hard working earth angel, committed to creating outrageous beauty and nurturing profound connection.
His joy and mischievious smile are a beacon inviting us into deeper relationship with our true (s)elves.
He has a big ole' compasionate heart, and I am truly honored to call him a friend!

LOVE
It is December, and In many places, quite chilly. However, the weather is rather warm here in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Yesterday Morning I went up to a special river, at the base of the wettest spot on earth, Mt. Waialeale. The trees are covered in moss and ferns, and the trails are covered in matted roots. Sweet creeks trickle down smooth rocks as the find there way to the rolling river. Little red berries grow on soft green leaves, and bananas grow wild. The swimming hole is wi...

JABBERWOCKY
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock,...

Ode to a Lemon
Out of lemon flowers
loosed
on the moonlight, love's
lashed and insatiable
essences,
sodden with fragrance,
the lemon tree's yellow
emerges,
the lemons
move down
from the tree's planetarium
Delicate merchandise!
the harbors are big with it-
bazaars
for the light and the
barbarous gold.
We open
the halves
of a miracle,
and a clotting of acids
brims
into the starry
divisions:
creation's
original juices,
irreducible, changeless,
alive:
so the fresh...

The Flight
Hands shading eyes,
I follow the high flight:
honoring heaven, the bird
traverses
the transparency, without soiling the day.
Winging westward, it climbs
each step up to the naked blue:
the entire sky is its tower,
and the world is cleansed by its movement.
Though the violent bird
seeks blood in the rose of space,
its structure is
arrow and flower in flight
and in the light its wings
are fused with air and purity.
O feathers destined
not to tree, meadow, or c...

A Suspended Blue Ocean
The sky
Is a suspended blue ocean.
The stars are the fish
That swim.
The planets are the white whales
I sometimes hitch a ride on,
And the sun and all light
Have forever fused themselves
Into my heart and upon
My skin.
There is only one rule
On this Wild Playground,
For every sign Hafiz has ever seen
Reads the same.
They all say,
"Have fun, my dear; my dear, have fun,
In the Beloved's Divine
Game,
O, in the Beloved's
Wonde...
