Ah, your makin a guy blush...

September 27, 2007
It is true, Arrow is the awesomest, also one of the best dads I've ever seen. He's truly an inspiration to those around him to go out there, do good, and bring the people you love with you. (psst, happy anniversary!)

A R R O W is an inspiration. He's an example of living
life with fullness - experiencing all the flavors of any
given moment, while maintaining the balance of being
a responsible, earth friendly, vision-quested, ever-evolving
yogi. He is heart. And thank goodness, there is a young one
to keep on and forth with such wild spiritness!

I have a picture from an Umbrella haus benefit from 1991 (or was it 1992?) and there is a young Straight Arrow, resplendent in squatter punk attire and a head full of unruly dreads.

His energy is captivating. When he and others started Steal this Radio in the Lower East Side, it was a totally fun trip because of his enthusiasm.

We both are Pisces people and we love to party. That Bacchallian Crash Worship show at C squat, wine being spilled in our mouths as we danced and danced to the beat.

Fast forward to the future, loving daddy who dotes on his really awesome daughter.

At the New Nation party last Summer, I was so tired, I was ready to go home. Suddenly the beats, the drums, the music. It carried back into the warehouse compelling my feet to move despite my weariness.
"Man, this is crazy, who is that shaman, making music to induce me to go past my point of return? It was Arrow, ohhhh man. I wanted to kill him. He seduced my feet and I was all the more happier for it.

Arrow and I are friends, he's good peeps and he's one of the rare people that enjoys my prank phone calls. I love you, Arrow!

Unbeknownst to all but a select few, Professor Winkel & Count Balktick have been toiling away in their secret laboratory for the past 11 months, perfecting a time machine the likes of which the worlde has not yet seen. In a ramshackle workshop, deep within the steamy bowels of a Brooklyn trash handling facility, they've managed to assemble the very first time machine capable of transporting its users to fantastic & fanciful realms where past & future collide in a spectacular orgy of chronological alchemy.

Your presence is requested as they unveil their creation on New Year's Eve Two Thousand and Eight. The time machine will be set in motion at midnight. Dinner and breakfast will be served. A little background…

The Mayday Festival (AKA the 22th Annual Squatters Mayday Celebration) is held yearly in Tompkins Square Park as commemoration of Anarchist founded, international workers holiday, Mayday. The holiday is broadly celebrated in Europe as a commemoration of workers rights, the 8 hour workday, and the anarchist martyrs who died in Chicago the bring about those rights. Mayday also has significance as the ancient pagan celebration of fertility and the coming of spring.

For us here in New York, The Mayday Festival is a celebration of the vibrancy of our neighborhood, our city, and a celebration of our counter-cultural communities. It is also a salute to the victorious squatters of the Lower East Side who have transformed the radical dream, “Housing is a Human Right”, into 11 buildings of legal, tenant-controlled, affordable housing.

The Mayday Festival is a time for our communities to come together, to celebrate, to plot, to inspire. Let the cheers of Mayday’s crowd be heard throughout the city--Arts and Culture are ALIVE and well in New York!!

The Mayday Event, which has attracted crowds of several thousand people in the past, has been hosted for the last 9 years by local party collective and arts organization, Blackkat (www.blackkat.org).

Past guests include; Afrika Bamabaataa, DJ Red Alert, Frankie Bones, Lenny Dee, Carlos Soulslinger, Jazzy J and many more.

PEACE OUT!!
