Please send in comments to the TSA by June 24th, 2013. It's important - and easy

The comment period, which ends on June 24th, has gotten all but lost amid the NSA snooping disclosures, and not enough people have commented on the TSA procedures.

Here's why comments matter. If not enough comments get sent in, the TSA can claim that not that many people actually care about their abusive, humiliating procedures, and they can let the procedures stand. If enough comments do get sent in, then it becomes much harder for the TSA to ignore us. In fact, if they do ignore us, and don't take all of the (mostly negative) comments into account, we can litigate the issue. More comments helps the litigation process.

Commenting is fairly quick and painless. All you have to do is go here:!docume...0004-0001 and press the blue "comment now" button in the top right hand corner of the page. If you get an error message (the site is somewhat buggy), you can still comment in other ways.

Mail, In Person, or Fax: Address, hand-deliver, or fax your written comments to the Docket Management Facility, U.S. Department of Transportation, 1200 New Jersey Avenue SE., West Building Ground Floor, Room W12-140, Washington, DC 20590-0001; fax (202) 493-2251. The Department of Transportation (DOT), which maintains and processes TSA's official regulatory dockets, will scan the submission and post it to FDMS. You'll need to include the docket number, which is TSA-2013-0004

Your comments don't have to be formal at all. You can write one short paragraph if you want. You can write about experiences that you've had at the airport. Write as much or as little as you want - whatever you're comfortable doing.

Also, *please* *share* this with other friends and family who you think might want to comment. Please post on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Reddit, G+ and anywhere else you spend time. We need the numbers!

Oh, one more thing -- Monday is our "Day of Action". If you can get comments out and spread the word on that day, it would be fantastic. Jon has a great blog post up about it. It's here:

Thanks very much for helping out!
