fierce focus... hardriving adventure-iss...
her images --- (the wons she evokes with her camera, and those she displays in dance, not to mention in her relationships with friends and family as written in her words illustrated with those same images) --- are pure love...
eye have two more words for this enchantress:
SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL

Jamilla is a desert treasure trove, I think. Photographer, writer and dancer (I've yet to see her dance) I'm enjoying the baubles of wisdom and beauty I'm finding. How fun!
Oh, and there's bit of a shaman in her, too. *winks*

A foot of snow and unplowed roads made for a sweet time in my new truck, gads it was fun. There were only two other folks in the park..the best..reconnected with my friends in the park service and mushed through deep snow with sunny skies. Leaving Moab is a bitter sweet experience...I have so many friends here and want me to move back..but with out a doubt, .there is evil here ...

This morning I took my new truck on a maiden voyage to Monument Valley..at least that is where my truck drove me. I had no clue where I was going when I pulled out of the drive way and this is what happened to me. I couldn't believe my luck..but I had high hopes for a full moon wherever I was. The night was so light I could see every part of the Valley..the sunrise was full of color and a full moon setting. I've been dancing on the sandstone .....and feel particularly blessed.

A handsome, talented and creative man sent this to me October 3rd. He said my photography inspired him...
When we two first met my heart rang out in music,
"She who is eternally afar is beside you forever."
That music is silent, because I have grown to believe that my love is only near,
and have forgotten that she is also far, far away.
Music fills the infinite between two souls.
This has been muffled by the mist of our daily habits.
On shy summer nights,
when the breeze brings a vast murmur
out of the silence,
I sit up in my bed and mourn the great loss
of her who is beside me, I ask myself,
"When shall I have another chance to whisper
her words with the rhythm of eternity in them?"
Wake up, my song, from thy langour,
rend the screen of the familiar,
and fly to my beloved there,
in the endless surprise of our first meeting... by Rabundranath Tagore
about me
I am on a journey..my mind is constantly being blown away by the unconditional love that flows from some humans, and at the insane cruelty being heaped upon each other by the same species.

"We all dance for different reasons. Some feel empowered when they dance. This comes in many forms. The ancient sisters dance through us- if we are open to it -and through them we see the state of the world. Through them, we are given tools to to ground ourselves and through them, we find the support that surrounds our bodies in times of exhaustion. Like giving birth, preparation is the key and lends itself to breathing, stretching and trust. As long as we reach for the heavens and stay grounded in humility we will be filled with the source."
– Jamilla

An elder Cherokee Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life. He said to them, "A fight is going on inside me...It is a terrible fight, and it is between two wolves. One wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, pride and superiority. The other wolf stands for joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside of you and every other person too."
They thought about it for a minute and then one child asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?" The old Cherokee simply replied..."The one I feed."

and bring the light
of dance to the dark
and weary world all
bright with joy you
gift, inspiring and free,
as spring rain gives us
blossoms and flowers...

"To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never, to forget. " - Arundhati Roy
