Dan is my best friend and one of the most important people in my life. He had an amazing amount of energy and always has too many things happening in his life. Listening to everything he does on a day to day basis makes me feel incredibly lazy in comparison. Even though he has the best intentions, he often is late, which drives me insane!. But you know if he says he's going to show up, he will show up...eventually....even if he's 5 hours late and everyone else has gone home. Somehow his presence keeps the party going into the wee hours of the morning, even if it was wrapping up when he got there. Dan frequently challenges himself in many ways and he amazes me on a regular basis. He is a great friend and an inspiration to me. My friendship with Dan has spanned most of my adult life and I can hardly think of a memory from the last 7 years where he doesn't factor in somewhere. He has given me so much and has made me a better person in a lot of ways. I cherish his friendship and wish him well in the future..

This guy has an annoying habit of knowing more then he should, or more than he ought to. If you find him with a rather dreamy dumb look upon his face, sitting in the corner, gibbering to himself, he can't say he wasn't warned. It just might be death by chocolate or rice krispies. ;)

Dan's an ass. But he pisses me off less then other boys so I keep him around.

The Rose of Persia opening tonight at San Jose Lyric Theatre

As usual, my blog consists of little else than a plug for my current show. It has been quite an experience putting together this production of a Sullivan operetta that has been rarely performed in the last seventy years. As far as we know, this ...

As usual, my blog consists of little else than a plug for my current show. It has been quite an experience putting together this production of a Sullivan operetta that has been rarely performed in the last seventy years. As far as we know, this is the first fully-staged performance with full orchestra on the west coast in my lifetime. As it turns out, it's a nice piece of theater. If we weren't interested in performing it in its entirety for historical reasons partially, I suspect that cu...

I'm the Major General and I get to sing the song. (But I'm only a model!) Yes. Our production is set in the Colonial Americas, with a Pirate King that looks like a cross between Blackbeard and Captain Morgan, but it's still fabulous G&S Topsy-Turvydom. Start with a band of rollicking pirates who get caught with a ...

In my tradition of mixing blog posts with shameless plugging, things went quite well overall with Yeomen over at Stanford last night. My favorite gaffe was when I suddenly couldn't remember that I was supposed to say the word "England" and instead substituted "Great Britain", and it says something about my long-term exposure to various Fair(e)s that my first thought was embarrassment over the anachronism of bringing that term to our show (set in Tudor England).
That being said, I can't he...
