about me
As a child I studied ballet, tap and jazz, and continued to dance through high school under a teacher who had been a member of Alvin Ailey's dance company. I discovered bellydance through the SCA and started taking classes from FCBD in 1998-1999. When I moved to L.A., no one was teaching or doing ATS here. I continued taking workshops with Carolena and Kajira whenever I could, and in 2000 I was one of the co-founders of Subee Djinn. In 2004 I started Alamkara, which now has 7 members and performs around Southern California and beyond. I now teach Beginning ATS at DanceGarden, a studio owned by world-famous belly dancers Jenna and Zahra. And after 9 years of doing tribal, I've started learning Egyptian/American cabaret style bellydance and performing solo at local restaurants and showcases.
