Bio
Paul grew up in both the mountains of Idaho and the city of Seattle. He holds a BA in Anthropology with a minor in Dance from the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. In college he played soccer, runner, swimmer, and rower but his favorite sport was hula-hooping…or doing other sports WHILE hula-hooping! Needing a more practical career than anthropology, he combined his love of Athletics, Dance and Hula-hooping to develop an act. He soon took dozens of hoops along the festival circuit in North America and Europe became The Hula-hoop Man.
To date dizzy has performed in at least 17 countries and he has performed for tv shows, commercials and dozens of fortune 500 companies. His show stayed fresh and creative; always ahead of, and uniquely apart from his competition. He now offers a spectacle act of tricks with 1 to dozens of hoops and a comedy act that also includes amazing card throws, lasso tricks, a squeeze through a small tennis racket and more!
Dizzy’s shows, hoop games, original bits like “The Hoop-la-Square”, and his ability to teach practically ANYONE to hula-hoop in just a few minutes have earned him high praise from organizers, clients, audiences and the media. One producer has often said “Dizzy rocks the party!” Dizzy’s energy and joy is genuine, audiences everywhere are inspired, awed and energized by his shows and “inter-actives.”

To all Men who love to hoop. I would like to welcome you to the (thankfully) girl-dominated world of hula-hooping (you cant argue with the shakin hips and exposed bellies). Still as men, we have to hold our ground. Part of that is calling it Hula-hooping - not hooping. "Hooping" is too cool, it's as if we're trying to pretend it's not that girls toy everyone remembers from the playground. leave "cool" for the girls, you know the ones, the "I am just casually spinning my hoop, not trying to g... read more

I dont live in SF anymore. It's a classic conflict- live near other artists for creative inspiration and community or go to a fresh scenewith less competition and a chance to look at your art from outside the petri dish. SF is fully saturated. Pay is better pretty much everywhere else. And everyone there starts to absorb the same style. Portland is the same- all perfromers seemed to have adopted the same style. I like the freedom of smaller places- libral small towns. I am in Mount Shasta now... read more

Is it changing forever?

i have seen a lot of festivals go through the progression- Artists' concept, artists built... all those great ideas, beautiful scenery, fun activities and freedom- oriented activities attract the fratboys and sorrority chicks not because they respest the art or the freedom, but mostly because it looks like a fun place to get drunk and take drugs. Those of you who know me , know i am the ultimate straight-edge, so maybe i shouldnt be judging- but I dont think there... read more
